15 The Lord said to Moses, 2 ‘Say to the Israelites, “You will go into the land that I am giving to you. 3 When you are living there, you can sacrifice bulls, male sheep or goats to the Lord . You will burn them on the altar as a burnt offering. You may offer special sacrifices to the Lord when you have promised to do it. Or you may offer sacrifices because you choose to do it. Also, you will give sacrifices during your regular festivals. The smell of these sacrifices as they burn will please the Lord . 4 The person who gives the gift to the Lord must also give a gift of flour. He must mix the flour with oil. It should be 1 kilogram of your best flour. Mix this flour with 1 litre of olive oil. 5 You must also give 1 litre of wine for each lamb. You must give that as a drink offering with each burnt offering or sacrifice.
6 If the animal is a male sheep, you must also offer 2 kilograms of flour. Mix this flour with 1.5 litres of olive oil. 7 Also, you must pour 1.5 litres of wine on the altar as a drink offering. The smell of the smoke from this sacrifice will please the Lord .
8 A person can give a young bull as a burnt offering. This may be a special sacrifice that he has promised to give to God. Or it may be a friendship offering to the Lord . 9 Also, you must offer 3 kilograms of flour. Mix this flour with 2 litres of olive oil. Do that if the bull is a burnt offering, or a friendship offering. Do the same if you offer this sacrifice because of a promise. 10 Also, you must pour 2 litres of wine on the altar as a drink offering. The smell of this smoke will please the Lord .
11 You must do the same thing for each bull or for each male sheep. And you must do the same thing for each male lamb or for each young goat. 12 You must do that for every animal that you offer as a gift to God. 13 All the Israelites must do that when they burn sacrifices. The smell of them as they burn will please the Lord . 14 A stranger who is living in your land may want to give a gift by fire to the Lord . He must do the same as you do now, and for all future time. 15 These rules will be the same for the Israelites and for all foreign people who live with them. These rules are for now and for all future time. Both you and the foreign person must obey the Lord 's rules. 16 There is the same law for you and for the foreign person who is living among you. There is only one set of rules.” ’
17 The Lord said to Moses, 18 ‘Tell the Israelites this. I am bringing them into the land of Canaan. After they have gone into it, they must obey my rules. 19 When they first eat the food from that land, they must give a special offering to the Lord . 20 You must give a cake as a special offering from the first of your flour. You must do it as you give your special gift from your threshing floor. 21 From the first of your flour, you must give to the Lord a special offering. And your descendants must continue to do that.
22 The people might not obey a rule that the Lord told Moses about. But they might not know that they are not obeying a rule. 23 It might be any rule that the Lord gave to you by Moses. 24 Perhaps somebody does not know that they are not obeying one of my rules. When that happens, they must sacrifice a young bull as a burnt offering. The smell of the smoke from this sacrifice will please the Lord . Also, they must give a grain offering, a drink offering and a male goat as a sin offering. 25 Then the priest will make things right with God for all the Israelites. The Lord will forgive them. That is because their sin was a mistake. They have brought their offering, an offering by fire to the Lord . And they have brought their sin offering to the Lord , for their mistake. 26 God will forgive all the Israelites and the foreign people who live among you. That is because your sin was a mistake. And also you offered the proper sacrifices to me.
27 Also, a person may not know that something is a sin. If he does that thing, he must sacrifice a female goat. The goat must be one year old. It will be a sin offering. 28 The priest will bring the gift to the Lord . That is to make things right. Then the Lord will forgive that person who did the sin. The person did not know that he had done a wrong thing. 29 The same rule is for the Israelites and for all the foreign people who live among them. That is when it was a mistake. 30 But a person might do something that he knows to be wrong. He does it because he wants to do it. That person is as bad as someone who insults the Lord . It does not matter whether he is an Israelite or a foreign person. You must make that person separate from all the people. 31 That person thought that the Lord 's command was not important. He has not obeyed God's rules. So you must make that person completely separate from the people. He is a guilty person.’
32 When the Israelites were in the desert, a man was picking up sticks on the day of rest. 33 Some people found him while he was picking up the sticks. They took him to Moses and Aaron and to all the people. 34 They were not sure what to do with the man. So they put him by himself in a tent. Men stood at the door of the tent so that he could not leave it. 35 The Lord said to Moses, ‘This man must die. All the people must take him outside the camp. They must throw stones at him to kill him.’ 36 So the people took the man outside the camp. They threw stones at him until he died. That was what the Lord had told Moses to do.
37 The Lord said to Moses, 38 ‘Tell the Israelites that they must put tassels on the corners of their clothes. They must fix the tassels on blue strings. They must do this now and for all future time. 39 You will be able to look at the tassels. They will help you to remember all the Lord 's rules. Then you can obey them. Then you will not only do what you yourself want to do. You will not turn away from me. 40 When you see the tassels, you will remember to obey all my rules. You will be holy for your God. 41 I am the Lord your God. I brought you out from Egypt to be your God. I am the Lord your God.’
15 The Lord said to Moses, 2 “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: I am giving you a land to be your home. When you enter that land, 3 you must give special gifts to the Lord . Their smell will please the Lord . You will use your cattle, sheep, and goats for burnt offerings, sacrifices, special promises, special gifts, fellowship offerings, or at your special festivals.
4 “At the time someone brings their offering, they must also give a grain offering to the Lord . The grain offering will be 8 cups [ a ] of fine flour mixed with 1 quart [ b ] of olive oil. 5 Each time you offer a lamb as a burnt offering or sacrifice, you must also prepare a quart of wine as a drink offering.
6 “If you are giving a ram, you must also prepare a grain offering. This grain offering should be 16 cups [ c ] of fine flour mixed with 1 1/4 quarts [ d ] of olive oil. 7 And you must prepare 1 1/4 quarts of wine as a drink offering. Its smell will please the Lord .
8 “You might prepare a young bull as a burnt offering, a sacrifice, a fellowship offering, or to keep a special promise to the Lord . 9 At that time you must also bring a grain offering with the bull. That grain offering should be 24 cups [ e ] of fine flour mixed with 2 quarts [ f ] of olive oil. 10 Also bring 2 quarts of wine as a drink offering as a sweet-smelling gift to the Lord . 11 Each bull or ram, or lamb or young goat that you give must be prepared in this way. 12 Do this for every one of these animals that you give.
13 “This is the way every citizen of Israel must give gifts to please the Lord . 14 Foreigners will live among you. If they give gifts to please the Lord , they must offer them the same way you do. 15 The same rules will be for everyone—the Israelites and the foreigners living among you. This law will continue forever. You and the people living among you will be the same before the Lord . 16 This means that you must follow the same laws and the same rules. These laws and rules are for you Israelites and for the other people who are living among you.”
17 The Lord said to Moses, 18 “Tell the Israelites this: I am taking you to another land. 19 When you eat the food that grows in that land, you must give part of that food as an offering to the Lord . 20 You will gather grain and grind it into flour to make dough for bread. You must give the first bread from that flour as a gift to the Lord. It will be like the grain offering that comes from the threshing floor. 21 You and all your descendants must give part of the first dough you make from that flour as a gift to the Lord .
22 “As you try to obey all the commands that the Lord gave Moses, you might fail and make a mistake. 23 The Lord gave you those commands through Moses, and they have been in effect from the day they were given throughout the generations until today. 24 If you made this mistake where everyone could see it, the whole community must offer a young bull as a burnt offering, as a sweet-smelling gift to the Lord . You must also offer the grain offering and the drink offering with the bull. And you must also give a male goat as a sin offering.
25 “So the priest will make the whole community of Israel pure, and they will be forgiven for the mistake they made. Since they made the mistake, they must bring a gift and a sin offering to the Lord . 26 Then the whole community of Israel and any foreigners among them will be forgiven for the mistake.
27 “But if only one person makes a mistake and sins, that person must bring a female goat that is one year old. That goat will be the sin offering. 28 The priest will make purification before the Lord for the one who sinned, and that person will be forgiven. 29 This law is for everyone who makes a mistake and sins. The same law is for the people born in the family of Israel and for the foreigners living among you.
30 “If someone sins and knows they are doing wrong, they are rebelling against the Lord . They must be separated from their people. The same law applies to citizens of Israel and to foreigners living among you. 31 They thought the Lord ’s word was not important, so they broke his commands. That is why they must be separated from their people—they must bear the responsibility for their guilt.”
32 While the Israelites were in the desert, some of them saw a man gathering firewood on the Sabbath day. 33 The people who saw him gathering the wood brought him to Moses and Aaron and the whole community of Israel. 34 They guarded the man carefully because they did not know how they should punish him.
35 Then the Lord said to Moses, “The man must die. All the people must throw stones at him outside the camp.” 36 So the people took him outside the camp and killed him with stones. They did this just as the Lord commanded Moses.
37 The Lord said to Moses, 38 “Speak to the Israelites. Tell them this: Tie several pieces of thread together and tie them in the corner of your clothes. Put a piece of blue thread in each one of these tassels. You must wear these things now and forever. 39 You will be able to look at these tassels and remember all the commands that the Lord has given you. Then you will obey the commands. You will not do wrong by forgetting about the commands and doing the things that your own bodies and eyes want. 40 You will remember to obey all my commands. Then you will be God’s special people. 41 I am the Lord your God. I am the one who brought you out of Egypt. I did this to be your God. I am the Lord your God.”
15 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye be come into the land of your habitations, which I give unto you,
3 And will make an offering by fire unto the Lord , a burnt offering, or a sacrifice in performing a vow, or in a freewill offering, or in your solemn feasts, to make a sweet savour unto the Lord , of the herd or of the flock:
4 Then shall he that offereth his offering unto the Lord bring a meat offering of a tenth deal of flour mingled with the fourth part of an hin of oil.
5 And the fourth part of an hin of wine for a drink offering shalt thou prepare with the burnt offering or sacrifice, for one lamb.
6 Or for a ram, thou shalt prepare for a meat offering two tenth deals of flour mingled with the third part of an hin of oil.
7 And for a drink offering thou shalt offer the third part of an hin of wine, for a sweet savour unto the Lord .
8 And when thou preparest a bullock for a burnt offering, or for a sacrifice in performing a vow, or peace offerings unto the Lord :
9 Then shall he bring with a bullock a meat offering of three tenth deals of flour mingled with half an hin of oil.
10 And thou shalt bring for a drink offering half an hin of wine, for an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the Lord .
11 Thus shall it be done for one bullock, or for one ram, or for a lamb, or a kid.
12 According to the number that ye shall prepare, so shall ye do to every one according to their number.
13 All that are born of the country shall do these things after this manner, in offering an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the Lord .
14 And if a stranger sojourn with you, or whosoever be among you in your generations, and will offer an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the Lord ; as ye do, so he shall do.
15 One ordinance shall be both for you of the congregation, and also for the stranger that sojourneth with you, an ordinance for ever in your generations: as ye are, so shall the stranger be before the Lord .
16 One law and one manner shall be for you, and for the stranger that sojourneth with you.
17 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
18 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye come into the land whither I bring you,
19 Then it shall be, that, when ye eat of the bread of the land, ye shall offer up an heave offering unto the Lord .
20 Ye shall offer up a cake of the first of your dough for an heave offering: as ye do the heave offering of the threshingfloor, so shall ye heave it.
21 Of the first of your dough ye shall give unto the Lord an heave offering in your generations.
22 And if ye have erred, and not observed all these commandments, which the Lord hath spoken unto Moses,
23 Even all that the Lord hath commanded you by the hand of Moses, from the day that the Lord commanded Moses, and henceforward among your generations;
24 Then it shall be, if ought be committed by ignorance without the knowledge of the congregation, that all the congregation shall offer one young bullock for a burnt offering, for a sweet savour unto the Lord , with his meat offering, and his drink offering, according to the manner, and one kid of the goats for a sin offering.
25 And the priest shall make an atonement for all the congregation of the children of Israel, and it shall be forgiven them; for it is ignorance: and they shall bring their offering, a sacrifice made by fire unto the Lord , and their sin offering before the Lord , for their ignorance:
26 And it shall be forgiven all the congregation of the children of Israel, and the stranger that sojourneth among them; seeing all the people were in ignorance.
27 And if any soul sin through ignorance, then he shall bring a she goat of the first year for a sin offering.
28 And the priest shall make an atonement for the soul that sinneth ignorantly, when he sinneth by ignorance before the Lord , to make an atonement for him; and it shall be forgiven him.
29 Ye shall have one law for him that sinneth through ignorance, both for him that is born among the children of Israel, and for the stranger that sojourneth among them.
30 But the soul that doeth ought presumptuously, whether he be born in the land, or a stranger, the same reproacheth the Lord ; and that soul shall be cut off from among his people.
31 Because he hath despised the word of the Lord , and hath broken his commandment, that soul shall utterly be cut off; his iniquity shall be upon him.
32 And while the children of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man that gathered sticks upon the sabbath day.
33 And they that found him gathering sticks brought him unto Moses and Aaron, and unto all the congregation.
34 And they put him in ward, because it was not declared what should be done to him.
35 And the Lord said unto Moses, The man shall be surely put to death: all the congregation shall stone him with stones without the camp.
36 And all the congregation brought him without the camp, and stoned him with stones, and he died; as the Lord commanded Moses.
37 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
38 Speak unto the children of Israel, and bid them that they make them fringes in the borders of their garments throughout their generations, and that they put upon the fringe of the borders a ribband of blue:
39 And it shall be unto you for a fringe, that ye may look upon it, and remember all the commandments of the Lord , and do them ; and that ye seek not after your own heart and your own eyes, after which ye use to go a whoring:
40 That ye may remember, and do all my commandments, and be holy unto your God.
41 I am the Lord your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: I am the Lord your God.
15 Now the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “ ( A ) Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them, ‘When you enter the land [ a ] where you are going to live, which I am giving you, 3 and you make ( B ) an offering by fire to the Lord , a burnt offering or a sacrifice to [ b ] ( C ) fulfill a special vow, or as a [ c ] voluntary offering or at your ( D ) appointed times, to make a ( E ) soothing aroma to the Lord from the herd or from the flock, 4 then ( F ) the one who presents his offering shall present to the Lord a grain offering of a tenth of an [ d ] ephah of fine flour mixed with a fourth of a [ e ] hin of oil, 5 and you shall prepare wine for the drink offering, a fourth of a hin, with the burnt offering or for the sacrifice, for ( G ) each lamb. 6 Or for a ram you shall prepare as a grain offering two-tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with a third of a hin of oil; 7 and for the drink offering you shall offer a third of a hin of wine as a soothing aroma to the Lord . 8 And when you prepare ( H ) a bull as a burnt offering or a sacrifice, to [ f ] fulfill a special vow, or for peace offerings to the Lord , 9 then you shall offer with the bull a grain offering of three-tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with half a hin of oil; 10 and you shall offer as the drink offering half a hin of wine as an offering by fire, as a soothing aroma to the Lord .
11 ‘This is how it shall be done for each ox, or for each ram, or for each of the male lambs, or of the goats. 12 According to the number that you prepare, so you shall do for each one according to their number. 13 Everyone who is a native shall do these things in this way, in presenting an offering by fire as a soothing aroma to the Lord .
14 Now if a stranger resides among you, or one who may be among you throughout your generations, and he wants to make an offering by fire, as a soothing aroma to the Lord , just as you do so shall he do. 15 As for the assembly, there shall be ( I ) one statute for you and for the stranger who resides among you , a permanent statute throughout your generations; as you are, so shall the stranger be before the Lord . 16 There is to be ( J ) one law and one ordinance for you and for the stranger who resides with you.’”
17 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 18 “Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them, ‘When you enter the land where I am bringing you, 19 then it shall be, that when you eat from the [ g ] ( K ) food of the land, you shall lift up an [ h ] offering to the Lord . 20 ( L ) Of the first of your [ i ] dough you shall lift up a loaf as an [ j ] offering; as ( M ) an [ k ] offering of the threshing floor, so you shall lift it up. 21 From the first of your [ l ] dough you shall give to the Lord an [ m ] offering throughout your generations.
22 ‘But when you ( N ) unintentionally do wrong and fail to [ n ] comply with all these commandments which the Lord has spoken to Moses, 23 that is , all that the Lord has commanded you [ o ] through Moses from the day that the Lord gave commandments and onward, throughout your generations, 24 then it shall be, if it is done ( O ) unintentionally, [ p ] without the knowledge of the congregation, that all the congregation shall offer one bull as a burnt offering, as a soothing aroma to the Lord , ( P ) with its grain offering and its drink offering, according to the ordinance, and one male goat as a sin offering. 25 Then ( Q ) the priest shall make atonement for all the congregation of the sons of Israel, and they will be forgiven; for it was an unintentional wrong, and they have brought their offering, an offering by fire to the Lord , and their sin offering before the Lord , for their unintentional wrong. 26 So all the congregation of the sons of Israel will be forgiven, as well as the stranger who resides among them, for guilt was attributed to all the people through an ( R ) unintentional wrong.
27 ‘Also, if one person sins ( S ) unintentionally, then he shall offer a one-year-old female goat as a sin offering. 28 And ( T ) the priest shall make atonement before the Lord for the person who goes astray by an unintentional sin, making atonement for him [ q ] so that he may be forgiven. 29 You shall have one law for the native among the sons of Israel and for the stranger who resides among them, for one who does anything wrong unintentionally. 30 But the person who does wrong [ r ] ( U ) defiantly, whether he is a native or a stranger, that one is blaspheming the Lord ; and that person shall be cut off from among his people. 31 Since he has ( V ) despised the word of the Lord and has broken His commandment, that person shall be completely cut off; ( W ) his [ s ] guilt will be on him.’”
32 Now while the sons of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man ( X ) gathering wood on the Sabbath day. 33 And those who found him gathering wood brought him to Moses and Aaron, and to all the congregation; 34 and they placed him in custody, ( Y ) because it had not been decided what should be done to him. 35 Then the Lord said to Moses, “The man must be put to death; ( Z ) all the congregation shall stone him with stones outside the camp.” 36 So all the congregation brought him outside the camp and stoned him [ t ] to death with stones, just as the Lord had commanded Moses.
37 The Lord also spoke to Moses, saying, 38 “Speak to the sons of Israel and tell them that they shall make for themselves ( AA ) tassels on the corners of their garments throughout their generations, and that they shall put on the tassel of each corner a [ u ] violet thread. 39 It shall be a tassel for you [ v ] to look at and ( AB ) remember all the commandments of the Lord , so that you will do them and not [ w ] follow your own heart and your own eyes, [ x ] which led you to prostitute yourselves, 40 so that you will remember and do all My commandments and ( AC ) be holy to your God. 41 I am the Lord your God who brought you out from the land of Egypt to be your God; I am the Lord your God.”
15 The Lord said to Moses, 2 “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘After you enter the land I am giving you ( A ) as a home 3 and you present to the Lord food offerings from the herd or the flock, ( B ) as an aroma pleasing to the Lord ( C ) —whether burnt offerings ( D ) or sacrifices, for special vows or freewill offerings ( E ) or festival offerings ( F ) — 4 then the person who brings an offering shall present to the Lord a grain offering ( G ) of a tenth of an ephah [ a ] of the finest flour ( H ) mixed with a quarter of a hin [ b ] of olive oil. 5 With each lamb ( I ) for the burnt offering or the sacrifice, prepare a quarter of a hin of wine ( J ) as a drink offering. ( K )
6 “‘With a ram ( L ) prepare a grain offering ( M ) of two-tenths of an ephah [ c ] ( N ) of the finest flour mixed with a third of a hin [ d ] of olive oil, ( O ) 7 and a third of a hin of wine ( P ) as a drink offering. ( Q ) Offer it as an aroma pleasing to the Lord . ( R )
8 “‘When you prepare a young bull ( S ) as a burnt offering or sacrifice, for a special vow ( T ) or a fellowship offering ( U ) to the Lord , 9 bring with the bull a grain offering ( V ) of three-tenths of an ephah [ e ] ( W ) of the finest flour mixed with half a hin [ f ] of olive oil, 10 and also bring half a hin of wine ( X ) as a drink offering. ( Y ) This will be a food offering, an aroma pleasing to the Lord . ( Z ) 11 Each bull or ram, each lamb or young goat, is to be prepared in this manner. 12 Do this for each one, for as many as you prepare. ( AA )
13 “‘Everyone who is native-born ( AB ) must do these things in this way when they present a food offering as an aroma pleasing to the Lord . ( AC ) 14 For the generations to come, ( AD ) whenever a foreigner ( AE ) or anyone else living among you presents a food ( AF ) offering ( AG ) as an aroma pleasing to the Lord , they must do exactly as you do. 15 The community is to have the same rules for you and for the foreigner residing among you; this is a lasting ordinance for the generations to come. ( AH ) You and the foreigner shall be the same before the Lord : 16 The same laws and regulations will apply both to you and to the foreigner residing among you. ( AI ) ’”
17 The Lord said to Moses, 18 “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘When you enter the land to which I am taking you ( AJ ) 19 and you eat the food of the land, ( AK ) present a portion as an offering to the Lord . ( AL ) 20 Present a loaf from the first of your ground meal ( AM ) and present it as an offering from the threshing floor. ( AN ) 21 Throughout the generations to come ( AO ) you are to give this offering to the Lord from the first of your ground meal. ( AP )
22 “‘Now if you as a community unintentionally fail to keep any of these commands the Lord gave Moses ( AQ ) — 23 any of the Lord ’s commands to you through him, from the day the Lord gave them and continuing through the generations to come ( AR ) — 24 and if this is done unintentionally ( AS ) without the community being aware of it, ( AT ) then the whole community is to offer a young bull for a burnt offering ( AU ) as an aroma pleasing to the Lord , ( AV ) along with its prescribed grain offering ( AW ) and drink offering, ( AX ) and a male goat for a sin offering. [ g ] ( AY ) 25 The priest is to make atonement for the whole Israelite community, and they will be forgiven, ( AZ ) for it was not intentional ( BA ) and they have presented to the Lord for their wrong a food offering ( BB ) and a sin offering. ( BC ) 26 The whole Israelite community and the foreigners residing among them will be forgiven, because all the people were involved in the unintentional wrong. ( BD )
27 “‘But if just one person sins unintentionally, ( BE ) that person must bring a year-old female goat for a sin offering. ( BF ) 28 The priest is to make atonement ( BG ) before the Lord for the one who erred by sinning unintentionally, and when atonement has been made, that person will be forgiven. ( BH ) 29 One and the same law applies to everyone who sins unintentionally, whether a native-born Israelite or a foreigner residing among you. ( BI )
30 “‘But anyone who sins defiantly, ( BJ ) whether native-born or foreigner, ( BK ) blasphemes the Lord ( BL ) and must be cut off from the people of Israel. ( BM ) 31 Because they have despised ( BN ) the Lord ’s word and broken his commands, ( BO ) they must surely be cut off; their guilt remains on them. ( BP ) ’”
32 While the Israelites were in the wilderness, ( BQ ) a man was found gathering wood on the Sabbath day. ( BR ) 33 Those who found him gathering wood brought him to Moses and Aaron and the whole assembly, 34 and they kept him in custody, because it was not clear what should be done to him. ( BS ) 35 Then the Lord said to Moses, “The man must die. ( BT ) The whole assembly must stone him outside the camp. ( BU ) ” 36 So the assembly took him outside the camp and stoned him ( BV ) to death, ( BW ) as the Lord commanded Moses. ( BX )
37 The Lord said to Moses, 38 “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘Throughout the generations to come ( BY ) you are to make tassels on the corners of your garments, ( BZ ) with a blue cord on each tassel. 39 You will have these tassels to look at and so you will remember ( CA ) all the commands of the Lord , that you may obey them and not prostitute yourselves ( CB ) by chasing after the lusts of your own hearts ( CC ) and eyes. 40 Then you will remember to obey all my commands ( CD ) and will be consecrated to your God. ( CE ) 41 I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt to be your God. ( CF ) I am the Lord your God. ( CG ) ’”
