1 The Lord spoke to Moses from the Tent of Meeting. [ a ] He told him the rules that Israel's people must obey. 2 The Lord said, ‘Speak to Israel's people. Tell them this. When a person gives an animal to the Lord , it must be a cow or a sheep or a goat. 3 A person may want to give a gift to the Lord . That gift must be a male animal from his group of animals. It must be perfect. He must burn the whole animal as a gift to the Lord . The person must bring it to the door of the Tent of Meeting. If he does, the Lord will accept his gift. 4 The person must put his hand on the animal's head. Then he must kill it. The animal's death will pay for the person's sins. 5 The person must kill the young bull in front of the Lord . The priests who are the sons of Aaron will take the blood. They will throw it onto the sides of the altar. That is the altar near to the door of the Tent of Meeting. 6 The person must take the skin from the dead animal and then he must cut up the meat. 7 The sons of Aaron the priest will light a fire on the altar. Then they will put wood on it. 8 The priests will put the pieces of meat on the fire. They will put the head and the fat on the fire with the meat. 9 The person must wash the legs and the inside parts with water. Then the priest will burn the whole animal on the altar. The smell of it while it is burning will give the Lord pleasure. [ b ]
10 A person may want to give a sheep or a goat as a gift to God. It must be a male animal. It must be perfect. 11 The person must kill it at the north side of the altar. The priests will throw the blood onto the sides of the altar in front of the Lord . 12 The person must cut the animal up. The priests will take the pieces of meat, the head and the fat. They will put them on the fire that is burning on the altar. 13 The person must wash the legs and the inside parts with water. The priest will burn the whole animal on the altar. It is a burnt offering. The smell of it while it is burning will give the Lord pleasure.
14 If a person wants to give a bird to the Lord , it must be a dove or a pigeon. 15 The priest will bring the bird to the altar. He will tear off the head and he will burn it on the altar. The priest will pour the blood onto the side of the altar. 16 Then the priest will remove the part of the bird where the food is stored. He will throw it on the east side of the altar, with the ashes. 17 He will hold the parts that the bird uses to fly. And then he will tear open the body. But he must not tear it completely. He will burn all of it on the fire that is on the altar. The smell of it while it is burning will give the Lord pleasure.
1 [ a ] So the Lord called out to Moses from inside the Meeting Tent and said, 2 “Tell the Israelites: When you bring an offering to the Lord , the offering must be one of your tame animals—it can be a sheep, a goat, or one of your cattle.
3 “If you offer one of your cattle as a burnt offering, it must be a bull that has nothing wrong with it. You must take the animal to the entrance of the Meeting Tent where the Lord will accept the offering. 4 You must put your hand on the animal’s head while it is being killed. So the Lord will accept it as your burnt offering to make you pure.
5 “You [ b ] must kill the young bull in front of the Lord . Then Aaron’s sons, the priests, will bring the blood to the altar that is near the entrance of the Meeting Tent. He will splash the blood on all four sides of the altar. 6 You must remove the skin from that animal and then cut the animal into pieces. 7 Aaron’s sons, the priests, will put the fire on the altar and arrange the wood on the fire. 8 They will lay the pieces of the animal, including the head and fat, on top of the burning wood. 9 You must wash the legs and inner parts of the animal with water. Then the priest will bring all these parts to the altar to be offered as a burnt offering, a sweet-smelling gift to the Lord .
10 “If you offer a sheep or a goat as a burnt offering, it must be a male that has nothing wrong with it. 11 You must kill the animal on the north side of the altar in front of the Lord . Then Aaron’s sons, the priests, will splash the animal’s blood on all four sides of the altar. 12 You must cut the animal into pieces and remove the head and the fat. The priest will then lay them on the wood that is on the fire of the altar. 13 You must wash the legs and inner parts of the animal with water. Then the priest will bring all these parts to the altar to be offered as a burnt offering, a sweet-smelling gift to the Lord .
14 “If you offer a bird as a burnt offering to the Lord , that bird must be a dove or a young pigeon. 15 The priest will bring the offering to the altar. There the priest will remove the bird’s head, drain out the blood on the side of the altar, and burn the bird on the altar. 16 He will remove the bird’s tail and inner parts [ c ] and throw them onto the pile of ashes east of the altar. 17 Then the priest will tear the bird open by its wings, but he must not divide it completely into two parts. So he will bring the bird to the altar to be offered as a burnt offering, a sweet-smelling gift to the Lord .
1 And the Lord called unto Moses, and spake unto him out of the tabernacle of the congregation, saying,
2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, If any man of you bring an offering unto the Lord , ye shall bring your offering of the cattle, even of the herd, and of the flock.
3 If his offering be a burnt sacrifice of the herd, let him offer a male without blemish: he shall offer it of his own voluntary will at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation before the Lord .
4 And he shall put his hand upon the head of the burnt offering; and it shall be accepted for him to make atonement for him.
5 And he shall kill the bullock before the Lord : and the priests, Aaron's sons, shall bring the blood, and sprinkle the blood round about upon the altar that is by the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
6 And he shall flay the burnt offering, and cut it into his pieces.
7 And the sons of Aaron the priest shall put fire upon the altar, and lay the wood in order upon the fire:
8 And the priests, Aaron's sons, shall lay the parts, the head, and the fat, in order upon the wood that is on the fire which is upon the altar:
9 But his inwards and his legs shall he wash in water: and the priest shall burn all on the altar, to be a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the Lord .
10 And if his offering be of the flocks, namely, of the sheep, or of the goats, for a burnt sacrifice; he shall bring it a male without blemish.
11 And he shall kill it on the side of the altar northward before the Lord : and the priests, Aaron's sons, shall sprinkle his blood round about upon the altar.
12 And he shall cut it into his pieces, with his head and his fat: and the priest shall lay them in order on the wood that is on the fire which is upon the altar:
13 But he shall wash the inwards and the legs with water: and the priest shall bring it all, and burn it upon the altar: it is a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the Lord .
14 And if the burnt sacrifice for his offering to the Lord be of fowls, then he shall bring his offering of turtledoves, or of young pigeons.
15 And the priest shall bring it unto the altar, and wring off his head, and burn it on the altar; and the blood thereof shall be wrung out at the side of the altar:
16 And he shall pluck away his crop with his feathers, and cast it beside the altar on the east part, by the place of the ashes:
17 And he shall cleave it with the wings thereof, but shall not divide it asunder: and the priest shall burn it upon the altar, upon the wood that is upon the fire: it is a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the Lord .
1 Now ( A ) the Lord called to Moses and spoke to him from the tent of meeting, saying, 2 “Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them, ‘When anyone of you brings an ( B ) offering to the Lord , you shall bring your offering of livestock from ( C ) the herd or the flock. 3 If his offering is a ( D ) burnt offering from the herd, he shall offer a male ( E ) without defect; he shall offer it ( F ) at the doorway of the tent of meeting, so that he may be accepted before the Lord . 4 And ( G ) he shall lay his hand on the head of the burnt offering, so that it may be accepted for him to make ( H ) atonement on his behalf. 5 Then ( I ) he shall [ a ] slaughter the [ b ] bull before the Lord ; and Aaron’s sons the priests shall offer up ( J ) the blood and ( K ) sprinkle the blood around on the altar that is at the doorway of the tent of meeting. 6 ( L ) He shall then skin the burnt offering and cut it into its pieces. 7 And ( M ) the sons of Aaron the priest shall put fire on the altar and arrange wood on the fire. 8 Then Aaron’s sons the priests shall arrange the pieces, with the head and the ( N ) suet, on the wood which is on the fire that is on the altar. 9 Its ( O ) entrails, however, and its legs he shall wash with water. And ( P ) the priest shall offer all of it up in smoke on the altar as a burnt offering, an offering by fire as ( Q ) a soothing aroma to the Lord .
10 ‘But if his offering is from the flock, either from the sheep or from the goats, as a burnt offering, he shall offer a ( R ) male without defect. 11 And ( S ) he shall slaughter it on the side of the altar northward before the Lord , and Aaron’s sons the priests shall sprinkle its blood around on the altar. 12 He shall then cut it into its pieces with its head and its ( T ) suet, and the priest shall arrange them on the wood which is on the fire that is on the altar. 13 The entrails, however, and the legs he shall wash with water. And ( U ) the priest shall offer all of it, and offer it up in smoke on the altar; it is a burnt offering, an offering by fire of a soothing aroma to the Lord .
14 ‘But if his offering to the Lord is a burnt offering of birds, then he shall bring his offering from the ( V ) turtledoves or from young doves. 15 The priest shall bring it to the altar, and pinch off its head, and offer it up in smoke on the altar; and its blood is to be drained out ( W ) on the side of the altar. 16 He shall also remove its craw with its feathers and throw it beside the altar eastward, to the place of the ( X ) fatty ashes. 17 Then he shall tear it by its wings, but ( Y ) shall not sever it . And the priest shall offer it up in smoke on the altar, on the wood which is on the fire; ( Z ) it is a burnt offering, an offering by fire of a soothing aroma to the Lord .

( G ) You must present it at the entrance to the tent ( H ) of meeting so that it will be acceptable ( I ) to the Lord . 4 You are to lay your hand on the head ( J ) of the burnt offering, ( K ) and it will be accepted ( L ) on your behalf to make atonement ( M ) for you. 5 You are to slaughter ( N ) the young bull ( O ) before the Lord , and then Aaron’s sons ( P ) the priests shall bring the blood and splash it against the sides of the altar ( Q ) at the entrance to the tent of meeting. 6 You are to skin ( R ) the burnt offering and cut it into pieces. ( S ) 7 The sons of Aaron the priest are to put fire on the altar and arrange wood ( T ) on the fire. 8 Then Aaron’s sons the priests shall arrange the pieces, including the head and the fat, ( U ) on the wood ( V ) that is burning on the altar. 9 You are to wash the internal organs and the legs with water, ( W ) and the priest is to burn all of it ( X ) on the altar. ( Y ) It is a burnt offering, ( Z ) a food offering, ( AA ) an aroma pleasing to the Lord . ( AB )

( AL ) 15 The priest shall bring it to the altar, wring off the head ( AM ) and burn it on the altar; its blood shall be drained out on the side of the altar.
