BibleStudyIt Psalm 92
- Psalm Chapter 92
92 It is good to thank the Lord !
We sing to praise your name, Most High God.
2 We sing in the morning
to thank you for your faithful love.
We sing at night
to say that you are always faithful.
3 We make beautiful music
with lutes, harps and lyres. [ a ]
4 The things that you do, Lord ,
make me very happy.
I sing with joy
because of the things that your hands have made!
5 Yes, Lord , you have done great things!
Your thoughts are more than we can understand!
6 Here is something that stupid people do not know.
Fools do not understand it.
7 Wicked people may continue to grow,
like green grass.
Evil people may grow like weeds.
But in the end you will destroy them
and they will never grow again. [ b ]
8 You, Lord , will rule as King for ever!
9 Yes, Lord , look at your enemies!
Your enemies will all die!
Those people who do evil things will all disappear!
10 You have made me as strong as a wild bull.
You have poured pure olive oil on me. [ c ]
11 With my own eyes,
I have seen my enemies fall.
With my own ears,
I have heard them cry out in pain.
12 Righteous people will do well,
like a palm tree that makes new leaves.
They will become strong,
like a tall cedar tree in Lebanon.
13 They are like trees that someone has planted in the Lord 's house.
They grow well in the yard of our God's temple.
14 When they are old,
they will still give fruit!
They will always be strong,
with fresh, green leaves.
15 They will tell everyone,
‘The Lord always does what is right.
He is my strong, safe rock.
There is nothing bad in him.’
92 It is good to praise the Lord .
God Most High, it is good to praise your name.
2 It is good to sing about your love in the morning
and about your faithfulness at night.
3 It is good to play for you on the ten-stringed instrument and lyre
and to add the soft sounds of the harp to my praise.
4 Lord , you make us very happy because of what you did.
I gladly sing about it.
5 Lord , you did such great things.
Your thoughts are too hard for us to understand.
6 Stupid people don’t know this.
Fools don’t understand.
7 The wicked may sprout like grass,
and those who do evil may blossom like flowers,
but they will be destroyed, never to be seen again.
8 But, Lord , you will be honored forever.
9 Lord , all your enemies will be destroyed,
and all who do evil will be scattered.
10 But you have made me as strong as a wild ox.
You have given me your blessing. [ a ]
11 My eyes will see the defeat of those waiting to attack me.
My ears will hear the cries of my evil enemies.
12 Good people are like budding palm trees.
They grow strong like the cedar trees of Lebanon.
13 They are planted in the house [ b ] of the Lord .
They grow strong there in the courtyards of our God.
14 Even when they are old,
they will continue producing fruit like young, healthy trees.
15 They are there to show everyone that the Lord is good. [ c ]
He is my Rock, and he does no wrong. [ d ]
92 It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord , and to sing praises unto thy name, O Most High:
2 To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night,
3 Upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery; upon the harp with a solemn sound.
4 For thou, Lord , hast made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands.
5 O Lord , how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep.
6 A brutish man knoweth not; neither doth a fool understand this.
7 When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; it is that they shall be destroyed for ever:
8 But thou, Lord , art most high for evermore.
9 For, lo, thine enemies, O Lord , for, lo, thine enemies shall perish; all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered.
10 But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil.
11 Mine eye also shall see my desire on mine enemies, and mine ears shall hear my desire of the wicked that rise up against me.
12 The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
13 Those that be planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God.
14 They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing;
15 To shew that the Lord is upright: he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.
92 It is ( A ) good to give thanks to the Lord
And to ( B ) sing praises to Your name, Most High;
2 To ( C ) declare Your goodness in the morning
And Your ( D ) faithfulness by [ a ] night,
3 [ b ] With the ( E ) ten-stringed lute and [ c ] with the ( F ) harp,
[ d ] With resounding music on the ( G ) lyre.
4 For You, Lord , have made me joyful by [ e ] what You ( H ) have done,
I will ( I ) sing for joy over the ( J ) works of Your hands.
5 How ( K ) great are Your works, Lord !
Your [ f ] ( L ) thoughts are very ( M ) deep.
6 A ( N ) stupid person has no knowledge,
Nor does a ( O ) foolish person understand this:
7 When the wicked ( P ) sprouted up like grass
And all ( Q ) who did injustice flourished,
It was only that they might be ( R ) destroyed forevermore.
8 But You, Lord , are ( S ) on high forever.
9 For, behold, Your enemies, Lord ,
For, behold, ( T ) Your enemies will perish;
All who do injustice will be ( U ) scattered.
10 But You have exalted my ( V ) horn like that of the wild ox;
I have [ g ] been ( W ) anointed with fresh oil.
11 And my eye has ( X ) looked at my enemies,
My ears hear of the evildoers who rise up against me.
12 The ( Y ) righteous person will [ h ] flourish like the palm tree,
He will grow like a ( Z ) cedar in Lebanon.
13 ( AA ) Planted in the house of the Lord ,
They will flourish ( AB ) in the courtyards of our God.
14 They will still [ i ] ( AC ) yield fruit in advanced age;
They will be [ j ] full of sap and very green,
15 To [ k ] declare that ( AD ) the Lord is just;
He is my ( AE ) rock, and there is ( AF ) no malice in Him.
1 It is good to praise the Lord
and make music ( A ) to your name, ( B ) O Most High, ( C )
2 proclaiming your love in the morning ( D )
and your faithfulness at night,
3 to the music of the ten-stringed lyre ( E )
and the melody of the harp. ( F )
4 For you make me glad by your deeds, Lord ;
I sing for joy ( G ) at what your hands have done. ( H )
5 How great are your works, ( I ) Lord ,
how profound your thoughts! ( J )
6 Senseless people ( K ) do not know,
fools do not understand,
7 that though the wicked spring up like grass
and all evildoers flourish,
they will be destroyed forever. ( L )
8 But you, Lord , are forever exalted.
9 For surely your enemies ( M ) , Lord ,
surely your enemies will perish;
all evildoers will be scattered. ( N )
10 You have exalted my horn [ b ] ( O ) like that of a wild ox; ( P )
fine oils ( Q ) have been poured on me.
11 My eyes have seen the defeat of my adversaries;
my ears have heard the rout of my wicked foes. ( R )
12 The righteous will flourish ( S ) like a palm tree,
they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon; ( T )
13 planted in the house of the Lord ,
they will flourish in the courts of our God. ( U )
14 They will still bear fruit ( V ) in old age,
they will stay fresh and green,
15 proclaiming, “The Lord is upright;
he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him. ( W ) ”
