BibleStudyIt Psalm 7
- Psalm Chapter 7
7 Lord , my God, I come to you to keep me safe.
Please save me from all those people who want to catch me.
2 If you do not keep me safe,
my enemies will tear me into pieces.
They will attack me like lions do,
and nobody will be able to save me.
3-5 Lord , my God, if I have done a wrong thing,
then let my enemies chase me and catch me.
If I have done a bad thing against a friend,
let my enemies catch me.
If I have helped a friend's enemy to attack him,
let my enemies catch me!
If I am guilty of any of these things,
let my enemies knock me down to the ground.
They should leave me there,
so that I lie as a dead person in the dirt.
Selah.
6 But Lord , now do something!
Wake up and help me!
Show how angry you are against my enemies.
Punish them in the way that you know is right!
7 Bring together the people of all nations,
to stand in front of you.
Rule over them from high above.
8 You, Lord , judge the people of all nations.
Lord , Most High God, say that I am not guilty.
Truly, I am righteous and honest.
9 Stop wicked people from doing evil things.
Keep your own people safe.
You always do what is right,
and you know how we think and feel.
10 The Most High God is like a shield to keep me safe.
He takes care of good, honest people.
11 God is a judge who is fair.
Every day he is angry against wicked people.
12 If they do not change the way that they live,
God will prepare to punish them.
He will make his sword sharp,
and he will put an arrow in his bow.
13 He will prepare his dangerous weapons.
He is ready to shoot his arrows that burn with fire.
14 Look! Wicked people prepare to do evil things!
They want to cause trouble.
Like a pregnant woman,
what starts inside them comes out into the open!
They give birth to lies that deceive people.
15 Wicked people want to hurt people.
They are digging a deep hole for people to fall into.
But they fall into the hole themselves!
16 The ideas that they have to hurt other people
bring trouble on themselves!
They want to be cruel to other people,
but they themselves receive the pain!
17 So I will thank the Lord
because he does what is right.
The Lord is the Most High God,
so I will sing to praise his name!
7 Lord my God, I come to you for protection.
Save me from those who are chasing me.
2 If you don’t help me, I will be torn apart like an animal caught by a lion.
I will be carried away with no one to save me.
3 Lord my God, I have done nothing wrong.
4 I have done nothing to hurt a friend [ b ]
or to help his enemies.
5 If that is not the truth, then punish me.
Let an enemy chase me, catch me, and kill me.
Let him grind me into the dirt and put me in my grave. Selah
6 Lord , get up [ c ] and show your anger!
My enemy is angry, so stand and fight against him.
Get me the justice that you demand.
7 Gather the nations around you,
and take your place as judge.
8 Lord , judge the people.
Lord , judge me.
Prove that I am right and that I am innocent.
9 Stop those who do evil.
Support those who do good.
God, you are fair.
You know what people are thinking.
10 God helps people who want to do right,
so he will protect me.
11 God is a good judge.
He always condemns evil.
12-13 If the wicked will not change,
then God is ready to punish them.
He has prepared his deadly weapons.
His sword is sharp.
His bow is strung, drawn back,
and ready to shoot its flaming arrow.
14 The minds of the wicked are full of evil;
they are pregnant with wicked plans,
which give birth to lies.
15 They dig a pit to trap others,
but they are the ones who will fall into it.
16 The trouble they cause will come back on them.
They plan harm for others,
but they are the ones who will be hurt.
17 I praise the Lord because he is good.
I praise the name of the Lord Most High.
7 O Lord my God, in thee do I put my trust: save me from all them that persecute me, and deliver me:
2 Lest he tear my soul like a lion, rending it in pieces, while there is none to deliver.
3 O Lord my God, If I have done this; if there be iniquity in my hands;
4 If I have rewarded evil unto him that was at peace with me; (yea, I have delivered him that without cause is mine enemy:)
5 Let the enemy persecute my soul, and take it; yea, let him tread down my life upon the earth, and lay mine honour in the dust. Selah.
6 Arise, O Lord , in thine anger, lift up thyself because of the rage of mine enemies: and awake for me to the judgment that thou hast commanded.
7 So shall the congregation of the people compass thee about: for their sakes therefore return thou on high.
8 The Lord shall judge the people: judge me, O Lord , according to my righteousness, and according to mine integrity that is in me.
9 Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end; but establish the just: for the righteous God trieth the hearts and reins.
10 My defence is of God, which saveth the upright in heart.
11 God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day.
12 If he turn not, he will whet his sword; he hath bent his bow, and made it ready.
13 He hath also prepared for him the instruments of death; he ordaineth his arrows against the persecutors.
14 Behold, he travaileth with iniquity, and hath conceived mischief, and brought forth falsehood.
15 He made a pit, and digged it, and is fallen into the ditch which he made.
16 His mischief shall return upon his own head, and his violent dealing shall come down upon his own pate.
17 I will praise the Lord according to his righteousness: and will sing praise to the name of the Lord most high.
7 O Lord my God, ( A ) in You I have taken refuge;
Save me from all those who pursue me, and ( B ) rescue me,
2 Or he will tear [ c ] my soul ( C ) like a lion,
Dragging me away, while there is no one to rescue me .
3 O Lord my God, if I have done this,
If there is ( D ) injustice in my hands,
4 If I have ( E ) done evil to [ d ] my friend,
Or have ( F ) plundered [ e ] my enemy for no reason,
5 Let the enemy pursue [ f ] my soul and overtake [ g ] it ;
And let him trample my life to the ground
And lay my glory in the dust. Selah
6 ( G ) Arise, Lord , in Your anger;
( H ) Raise Yourself against ( I ) the rage of my enemies,
And ( J ) stir Yourself [ h ] for me; You have ordered judgment.
7 Let the assembly of the ( K ) peoples encompass You,
And return on high over it.
8 The Lord ( L ) judges the peoples;
[ i ] ( M ) Vindicate me, Lord , according to my righteousness and my integrity that is in me.
9 Please let ( N ) the evil of the wicked come to an end, but ( O ) establish the righteous;
For the righteous God ( P ) puts hearts and [ j ] minds to the test.
10 My ( Q ) shield is [ k ] with God,
Who ( R ) saves the upright in heart.
11 God is a ( S ) righteous judge,
And a God who ( T ) shows indignation every day.
12 If one ( U ) does not repent, He will ( V ) sharpen His sword;
He has ( W ) bent His bow and taken aim.
13 He has also prepared deadly weapons for Himself;
He makes His ( X ) arrows fiery shafts .
14 Behold, an evil person is pregnant with injustice,
And he ( Y ) conceives harm and gives birth to lies.
15 He has dug a pit and hollowed it out,
And has ( Z ) fallen into the hole which he made.
16 His ( AA ) harm will return on his own head,
And his ( AB ) violence will descend on the top of his own head.
17 I will give thanks to the Lord ( AC ) according to His righteousness
And will ( AD ) sing praise to the name of the Lord Most High.
1 Lord my God, I take refuge ( B ) in you;
save and deliver me ( C ) from all who pursue me, ( D )
2 or they will tear me apart like a lion ( E )
and rip me to pieces with no one to rescue ( F ) me.
3 Lord my God, if I have done this
and there is guilt on my hands ( G ) —
4 if I have repaid my ally with evil
or without cause ( H ) have robbed my foe—
5 then let my enemy pursue and overtake ( I ) me;
let him trample my life to the ground ( J )
and make me sleep in the dust. [ c ] ( K )
6 Arise, ( L ) Lord , in your anger;
rise up against the rage of my enemies. ( M )
Awake, ( N ) my God; decree justice.
7 Let the assembled peoples gather around you,
while you sit enthroned over them on high. ( O )
8 Let the Lord judge ( P ) the peoples.
Vindicate me, Lord , according to my righteousness, ( Q )
according to my integrity, ( R ) O Most High. ( S )
9 Bring to an end the violence of the wicked
and make the righteous secure— ( T )
you, the righteous God ( U )
who probes minds and hearts. ( V )
10 My shield [ d ] ( W ) is God Most High,
who saves the upright in heart. ( X )
11 God is a righteous judge, ( Y )
a God who displays his wrath ( Z ) every day.
12 If he does not relent, ( AA )
he [ e ] will sharpen his sword; ( AB )
he will bend and string his bow. ( AC )
13 He has prepared his deadly weapons;
he makes ready his flaming arrows. ( AD )
