- Psalm Chapter 65
65 God, it is right for us to praise you in Zion.
There, we will offer to you
the gifts that we have promised.
2 You answer our prayers.
All of us must come to you,
3 because of our many sins.
Our sins are too heavy for us to carry,
but you forgive the bad things that we do against you. [ b ]
4 You have blessed each person that you have chosen.
You let them live near to you in your home.
The good things that are in your holy temple
will make us very happy!
5 God, you are the one who saves us!
You answer our prayers,
and you do great things to rescue us.
People from everywhere on earth trust in you,
even those who live far away across the seas.
6 You used your power to make the mountains,
and you showed how strong you are.
7 You stop the seas from being angry,
so that their waters make no noise. [ c ]
You do the same with the angry nations.
8 People who live far away see
the great things that you have done.
It makes them afraid.
Everywhere on earth, east and west,
people sing happy songs to praise you.
9 You take care of the land.
You send rain to make the earth good for plants.
Your rivers are full of water.
You cause the earth to give good crops
so that the people have grain to eat.
10 When people plough their fields,
you send rain to make the earth wet.
You make the ground soft with the rain,
so that crops grow there.
11 Every year at harvest time,
you bless people with lots of good things.
Everywhere that you go,
there is plenty of food. [ d ]
12 Fresh grass covers the fields in the wilderness.
There are plenty of good things all over the hills,
so that people are very happy.
13 The fields are full of sheep.
The valleys are covered with crops.
Everywhere seems to shout and sing for joy!
65 God in Zion, we praise you
and give you what we promised.
2 Anyone can come to you,
and you will listen to their prayers.
3 When our sins become too heavy for us,
you wipe them away.
4 Oh, how wonderful it is to be the people you chose
to come and stay in your Temple.
And we are so happy to have the wonderful things
that are in your Temple, your holy palace.
5 God, you answer our prayers and do what is right.
You do amazing things to save us.
People all over the world know they can trust in you,
even those who live across the sea.
6 You made the mountains.
We see your power all around us.
7 You can calm the roughest seas
or the nations raging around us.
8 People all around the world are amazed at the wonderful things you do.
You make all people, east and west, sing with joy.
9 You take care of the land.
You water it and make it fertile.
Your streams are always filled with water.
That’s how you make the crops grow.
10 You pour rain on the plowed fields;
you soak the fields with water.
You make the ground soft with rain,
and you make the young plants grow.
11 You start the new year with a good harvest.
You end the year with many crops. [ a ]
12 The desert and hills are covered with grass.
13 The pastures are covered with sheep.
The valleys are filled with grain.
Everything is singing and shouting for joy.
65 Praise waiteth for thee, O God, in Sion: and unto thee shall the vow be performed.
2 O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come.
3 Iniquities prevail against me: as for our transgressions, thou shalt purge them away.
4 Blessed is the man whom thou choosest, and causest to approach unto thee, that he may dwell in thy courts: we shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house, even of thy holy temple.
5 By terrible things in righteousness wilt thou answer us, O God of our salvation; who art the confidence of all the ends of the earth, and of them that are afar off upon the sea:
6 Which by his strength setteth fast the mountains; being girded with power:
7 Which stilleth the noise of the seas, the noise of their waves, and the tumult of the people.
8 They also that dwell in the uttermost parts are afraid at thy tokens: thou makest the outgoings of the morning and evening to rejoice.
9 Thou visitest the earth, and waterest it: thou greatly enrichest it with the river of God, which is full of water: thou preparest them corn, when thou hast so provided for it.
10 Thou waterest the ridges thereof abundantly: thou settlest the furrows thereof: thou makest it soft with showers: thou blessest the springing thereof.
11 Thou crownest the year with thy goodness; and thy paths drop fatness.
12 They drop upon the pastures of the wilderness: and the little hills rejoice on every side.
13 The pastures are clothed with flocks; the valleys also are covered over with corn; they shout for joy, they also sing.
65 There will be silence [ a ] before You, and praise in Zion, God,
And the ( A ) vow will be fulfilled for You.
2 You who hear prayer,
To You ( B ) all [ b ] mankind comes.
3 [ c ] ( C ) Wrongdoings prevail against me;
As for our offenses, You [ d ] ( D ) forgive them.
4 ( E ) Blessed is the one You ( F ) choose and allow to approach You ;
He will dwell in Your courtyards.
We will be ( G ) satisfied with the goodness of Your house,
Your holy temple.
5 By ( H ) awesome deeds You answer us in righteousness, ( I ) God of our salvation,
You who are the trust of all the ( J ) ends of the earth and the farthest [ e ] ( K ) sea;
6 Who ( L ) establishes the mountains by His strength,
Who is ( M ) encircled with might;
7 Who ( N ) stills the roaring of the seas,
The roaring of their waves,
And the ( O ) turmoil of the nations.
8 They who dwell at the ( P ) ends of the earth stand in awe of Your signs;
You make the [ f ] sunrise and the sunset shout for joy.
9 You visit the earth and ( Q ) cause it to overflow;
You greatly ( R ) enrich it;
The [ g ] ( S ) stream of God is full of water;
You prepare their ( T ) grain, for so You prepare [ h ] the earth.
10 You water its furrows abundantly,
You [ i ] settle its ridges,
You soften it ( U ) with showers,
You bless its growth.
11 You have crowned the year [ j ] with Your ( V ) goodness,
And Your [ k ] paths ( W ) drip with fatness.
12 ( X ) The pastures of the wilderness drip,
And the ( Y ) hills encircle themselves with rejoicing.
13 The meadows are ( Z ) clothed with flocks
And the valleys are ( AA ) covered with grain;
They ( AB ) shout for joy, yes, they sing.
1 Praise awaits [ b ] you, our God, in Zion; ( A )
to you our vows will be fulfilled. ( B )
2 You who answer prayer,
to you all people will come. ( C )
3 When we were overwhelmed by sins, ( D )
you forgave [ c ] our transgressions. ( E )
4 Blessed are those you choose ( F )
and bring near ( G ) to live in your courts!
We are filled with the good things of your house, ( H )
of your holy temple.
5 You answer us with awesome and righteous deeds, ( I )
God our Savior, ( J )
the hope of all the ends of the earth ( K )
and of the farthest seas, ( L )
6 who formed the mountains ( M ) by your power,
having armed yourself with strength, ( N )
7 who stilled the roaring of the seas, ( O )
the roaring of their waves,
and the turmoil of the nations. ( P )
8 The whole earth is filled with awe at your wonders;
where morning dawns, where evening fades,
you call forth songs of joy. ( Q )
9 You care for the land and water it; ( R )
you enrich it abundantly. ( S )
The streams of God are filled with water
to provide the people with grain, ( T )
for so you have ordained it. [ d ]
10 You drench its furrows and level its ridges;
you soften it with showers ( U ) and bless its crops.
11 You crown the year with your bounty, ( V )
and your carts overflow with abundance. ( W )
12 The grasslands of the wilderness overflow; ( X )
the hills are clothed with gladness. ( Y )
13 The meadows are covered with flocks ( Z )
and the valleys are mantled with grain; ( AA )
they shout for joy and sing. ( AB )
