- Psalm Chapter 57
57 God, please be kind to me and help me!
Please help me!
I have come to you to keep me safe.
Until the danger has gone, keep me near to you,
in the way that birds protect their babies under their wings.
2 I will call to the Most High God to help me.
He is the God who stands beside me.
3 He will send help from heaven
and he will save me.
He will punish the people who attack me.
Selah.
God will show me his faithful love,
and he will do what he has promised.
4 My enemies are all round me,
like hungry lions!
I must lie down among wild animals,
that want to eat me!
They are men who use spears and arrows
to bite like teeth.
They use their tongues to hurt people,
like sharp swords.
5 God, show how great you are,
high above the sky!
Let everybody on the earth see your glory!
6 My enemies have prepared a trap to catch me.
That makes me very upset.
They have dug a deep hole on the path where I walk.
But they have fallen into it themselves!
Selah.
7 God, I have decided to trust you always.
Yes, I will trust you!
I will sing songs to praise you!
8 I will wake up now!
I will pick up my harp and my lyre.
I will make music as the sun rises! [ b ]
9 My Lord, I will thank you
in front of all the people.
I will sing to praise you,
so that all nations hear.
10 Your faithful love is great,
higher than the skies.
Your truth reaches beyond the clouds.
11 God, show how great you are,
high above the sky!
Let everybody on the earth see your glory!
57 God, be merciful to me.
Be kind because my soul trusts in you.
I have come to you for protection,
while the trouble passes.
2 I pray to God Most High for help,
and he takes care of me completely!
3 From heaven he helps me and saves me.
He will punish the one who attacks me. Selah
God will remain loyal to me
and send his love to protect me.
4 My life is in danger.
My enemies are all around me.
They are like man-eating lions,
with teeth like spears or arrows
and tongues like sharp swords.
5 God, rise above the heavens!
Let all the world see your glory.
6 My enemies set a trap for my feet
to bring me down.
They dug a deep pit to catch me,
but they fell into it. Selah
7 God, I am ready, heart and soul,
to sing songs of praise.
8 Wake up, my soul!
Harps and lyres, wake up,
and let’s wake the dawn!
9 My Lord, I will praise you before all people.
I will sing praises about you to every nation.
10 Your faithful love is higher
than the highest clouds in the sky!
11 Rise above the heavens, God.
Let all the world see your glory.
57 Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me: for my soul trusteth in thee: yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast.
2 I will cry unto God most high; unto God that performeth all things for me.
3 He shall send from heaven, and save me from the reproach of him that would swallow me up. Selah. God shall send forth his mercy and his truth.
4 My soul is among lions: and I lie even among them that are set on fire, even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.
5 Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens; let thy glory be above all the earth.
6 They have prepared a net for my steps; my soul is bowed down: they have digged a pit before me, into the midst whereof they are fallen themselves. Selah.
7 My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise.
8 Awake up, my glory; awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early.
9 I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people: I will sing unto thee among the nations.
10 For thy mercy is great unto the heavens, and thy truth unto the clouds.
11 Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: let thy glory be above all the earth.
57 Be gracious to me, God, be gracious to me,
For my soul ( A ) takes refuge in You;
And in the ( B ) shadow of Your wings I will take refuge
Until destruction ( C ) passes by.
2 I will cry to God Most High,
To God who ( D ) accomplishes all things for me.
3 He will ( E ) send from heaven and save me;
He rebukes the one who [ d ] ( F ) tramples upon me. Selah
God will send His [ e ] ( G ) favor and His truth.
4 My soul is among ( H ) lions;
I must lie among those who devour,
Among sons of mankind whose ( I ) teeth are spears and arrows,
And their ( J ) tongue is a sharp sword.
5 ( K ) Be exalted above the heavens, God;
May Your glory be above all the earth.
6 They have prepared a ( L ) net for my steps;
My soul is ( M ) bowed down;
They ( N ) dug a pit before me;
They themselves have ( O ) fallen into the midst of it. Selah
7 ( P ) My ( Q ) heart is steadfast, God, my heart is steadfast;
I will sing, yes, I will sing praises!
8 Awake, ( R ) my glory!
Awake, ( S ) harp and lyre!
I will awaken the dawn.
9 ( T ) I will praise You, Lord, among the peoples;
I will sing praises to You among the [ f ] nations.
10 For Your ( U ) goodness is great to the heavens
And Your [ g ] truth to the clouds.
11 ( V ) Be exalted above the heavens, God;
May Your glory be above all the earth.
1 Have mercy on me, my God, have mercy on me,
for in you I take refuge. ( C )
I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings ( D )
until the disaster has passed. ( E )
2 I cry out to God Most High,
to God, who vindicates me. ( F )
3 He sends from heaven and saves me, ( G )
rebuking those who hotly pursue me— [ c ] ( H )
God sends forth his love and his faithfulness. ( I )
4 I am in the midst of lions; ( J )
I am forced to dwell among ravenous beasts—
men whose teeth are spears and arrows,
whose tongues are sharp swords. ( K )
5 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens;
let your glory be over all the earth. ( L )
6 They spread a net for my feet ( M ) —
I was bowed down ( N ) in distress.
They dug a pit ( O ) in my path—
but they have fallen into it themselves. ( P )
7 My heart, O God, is steadfast,
my heart is steadfast; ( Q )
I will sing and make music.
8 Awake, my soul!
Awake, harp and lyre! ( R )
I will awaken the dawn.
9 I will praise you, Lord, among the nations;
I will sing of you among the peoples.
10 For great is your love, reaching to the heavens;
your faithfulness reaches to the skies. ( S )
