34 I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.

² My soul shall make her boast in the Lord : the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad.

³ O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together.

⁴ I sought the Lord , and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.

⁵ They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed.

⁶ This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.

⁷ The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.

⁸ O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.

⁹ O fear the Lord , ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him.

¹⁰ The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the Lord shall not want any good thing.

¹¹ Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the Lord .

¹² What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good?

¹³ Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.

¹⁴ Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.

¹⁵ The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.

¹⁶ The face of the Lord is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.

¹⁷ The righteous cry, and the Lord heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.

¹⁸ The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.

¹⁹ Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.

²⁰ He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken.

²¹ Evil shall slay the wicked: and they that hate the righteous shall be desolate.

²² The Lord redeemeth the soul of his servants: and none of them that trust in him shall be desolate.

34 I will praise the Lord at all times.
I will never stop singing his praises.
² Humble people, listen and be happy,
while I brag about the Lord .
³ Praise the Lord with me.
Let us honor his name.
⁴ I went to the Lord for help, and he listened.
He saved me from all that I fear.
⁵ If you look to him for help,
he will put a smile on your face.
You will have no need to be ashamed.
⁶ As a poor, helpless man I prayed to the Lord ,
and he heard me.
He saved me from all my troubles.
⁷ The Lord ’s angel builds a camp around his followers,
and he protects them.
⁸ Give the Lord a chance to show you ^{[ b ]} how good he is.
Great blessings belong to those who depend on him!
⁹ The Lord ’s holy people should fear and respect him.
Those who respect him will always have what they need.
¹⁰ Even strong lions get weak and hungry,
but those who go to the Lord for help will have every good thing.
¹¹ Children, come and listen to me;
I will teach you to respect the Lord .
¹² Do you want to enjoy life?
Do you want to have many happy days?
¹³ Then avoid saying anything hurtful,
and never let a lie come out of your mouth.
¹⁴ Stop doing anything evil, and do good.
Look for peace, and do all you can to help people live peacefully.
¹⁵ The Lord watches over those who do what is right,
and he hears their prayers.
¹⁶ But the Lord is against those who do evil,
so they are forgotten soon after they die.

¹⁷ Pray to the Lord , and he will hear you.
He will save you from all your troubles.
¹⁸ The Lord is close to those who have suffered disappointment.
He saves those who are discouraged.
¹⁹ Good people might have many problems,
but the Lord will take them all away.
²⁰ He will protect them completely.
Not one of their bones will be broken.
²¹ But troubles will kill the wicked.
The enemies of those who live right will all be punished.
²² The Lord saves his servants.
All who go to him for protection will escape punishment.

⁶ This poor man cried, and Jehovah heard him,

Blessed is the man that taketh refuge in him.
⁹ Oh fear Jehovah, ye his saints;

⁷ A messenger of Jehovah is encamping, Round about those who fear Him, And He armeth them.

⁸ Taste ye and see that Jehovah [is] good, O the happiness of the man who trusteth in Him.

⁹ Fear Jehovah, ye His holy ones, For there is no lack to those fearing Him.

¹⁰ Young lions have lacked and been hungry, And those seeking Jehovah lack not any good,

¹¹ Come ye, children, hearken to me, The fear of Jehovah I do teach you.

¹² Who [is] the man that is desiring life? Loving days to see good?

¹³ Keep thy tongue from evil, And thy lips from speaking deceit.

¹⁴ Turn aside from evil and do good, Seek peace and pursue it.

¹⁵ The eyes of Jehovah [are] unto the righteous, And His ears unto their cry.

¹⁶ (The face of Jehovah [is] on doers of evil, To cut off from earth their memorial.)

¹⁷ They cried, and Jehovah heard, And from all their distresses delivered them.

¹⁸ Near [is] Jehovah to the broken of heart, And the bruised of spirit He saveth.

¹⁹ Many [are] the evils of the righteous, Out of them all doth Jehovah deliver him.

²⁰ He is keeping all his bones, One of them hath not been broken.

²¹ Evil doth put to death the wicked, And those hating the righteous are desolate.

²² Jehovah redeemeth the soul of His servants, And none trusting in Him are desolate!

34 For David himself. Judge thou, O Lord, them that wrong me: overthrow them that fight against me.

² Take hold of arms and shield: and rise up to help me.

³ Bring out the sword, and shut up the way against them that persecute me: say to my soul: I am thy salvation.

⁴ Let them be confounded and ashamed that seek after my soul. Let them be turned back and be confounded that devise against me.

⁵ Let them become as dust before the wind: and let the angel of the Lord straiten them.

⁶ Let their way become dark and slippery; and let the angel of the Lord pursue them.

⁷ For without cause they have hidden their net for me unto destruction: without cause they have upbraided my soul.

⁸ Let the snare which he knoweth not come upon him: and let the net which he hath hidden catch him: and let the net which he hath hidden catch him: and into that very snare let them fall.

⁹ But my soul shall rejoice in the Lord; and shall be delighted in his salvation.

¹⁰ All my bones shall say: Lord, who is like to thee? Who deliverest the poor from the hand of them that are stronger than he; the needy and the poor from them that strip him.

¹¹ Unjust witnesses rising up have asked me things I knew not.

¹² They repaid me evil for good: to the depriving me of my soul.

¹³ But as for me, when they were troublesome to me, I was clothed with haircloth. I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer shall be turned into my bosom.

¹⁴ As a neighbour and as an own brother, so did I please: as one mourning and sorrowful so was I humbled.

¹⁵ But they rejoiced against me, and came together: scourges were gathered together upon me, and I knew not.

¹⁶ They were separated, and repented not: they tempted me, they scoffed at me with scorn: they gnashed upon me with their teeth.

¹⁷ Lord, when wilt thou look upon me? rescue thou soul from their malice: my only one from the lions.

¹⁸ I will give thanks to thee in a great church; I will praise thee in a strong people.

¹⁹ Let not them that are my enemies wrongfully rejoice over me: who have hated me without cause, and wink with the eyes.

²⁰ For they spoke indeed peaceably to me; and speaking in the anger of the earth they devised guile.

²¹ And they opened their mouth wide against me; they said: Well done, well done, our eyes have seen it.

²² Thou hast seen, O Lord, be not thou silent: O Lord, depart not from me.

²³ Arise, and be attentive to my judgment: to my cause, my God, and my Lord.

²⁴ Judge me, O Lord my God according to thy justice, and let them not rejoice over me.

²⁵ Let them not say in their hearts: It is well, it is well, to our mind: neither let them say: We have swallowed him up.

²⁶ Let them blush: and be ashamed together, who rejoice at my evils. Let them be clothed with confusion and shame, who speak great things against me.

²⁷ Let them rejoice and be glad, who are well pleased with my justice, and let them say always: The Lord be magnified, who delights in the peace of his servant.

²⁸ And my tongue shall meditate thy justice, thy praise all the day long.
