BibleStudyIt Psalm 28
- Psalm Chapter 28
28 Lord , I am calling to you for help.
You are my safe place, like a high rock. [ a ]
Please do not refuse to listen to me.
If you do not answer me,
I will be like those who are going down
into the deep hole of death.
2 Hear me when I call to you for help.
Please be kind to me.
I am lifting up my hands
towards your Most Holy Place. [ b ]
3 Do not pull me away to punishment,
as you do with wicked people.
Those people do evil things.
They say kind words to their friends,
but really they want to hurt them.
4 Punish them for their sins.
Give back to them what they deserve!
Yes, punish them!
That is the fair thing to do.
5 They do not want to understand
the things that the Lord has done,
or the things that he has made.
The Lord will punish them,
and he will remove them for ever.
6 We should praise the Lord !
He has been kind to me,
when I called to him for help.
7 The Lord makes me strong.
He keeps me safe like a shield.
I trust in him completely,
and he has helped me.
I am very happy,
and I will thank him with my songs.
8 The Lord makes his people strong.
He protects the king that he has chosen.
The Lord keeps him safe. [ c ]
9 Lord , save your people!
Bless the people who belong to you!
Take care of your people like a shepherd.
Always carry them in your arms!
28 Lord , you are my Rock.
I am calling to you for help.
Don’t close your ears to my prayers.
If you don’t answer me,
I will be counted among the dead.
2 I lift my hands and pray toward your Most Holy Place.
Hear me when I call to you.
Show mercy to me.
3 Don’t treat me like the evil people
who do wicked things.
They greet their neighbors like friends,
but secretly plan to hurt them.
4 They do bad things to others,
so make bad things happen to them.
Give them the punishment they deserve.
5 They don’t notice what the Lord does.
They ignore all the good things he has made.
So instead of building them up,
he will destroy them.
6 Praise the Lord !
He has heard my prayer for mercy.
7 The Lord is my strength and shield.
I trusted him with all my heart.
He helped me, so I am happy.
I sing songs of praise to him.
8 The Lord protects his chosen one. [ a ]
He saves him and gives him strength.
9 Save your people.
Bless those who belong to you.
Lead them and honor them [ b ] forever.
28 Unto thee will I cry, O Lord my rock; be not silent to me: lest, if thou be silent to me, I become like them that go down into the pit.
2 Hear the voice of my supplications, when I cry unto thee, when I lift up my hands toward thy holy oracle.
3 Draw me not away with the wicked, and with the workers of iniquity, which speak peace to their neighbours, but mischief is in their hearts.
4 Give them according to their deeds, and according to the wickedness of their endeavours: give them after the work of their hands; render to them their desert.
5 Because they regard not the works of the Lord , nor the operation of his hands, he shall destroy them, and not build them up.
6 Blessed be the Lord , because he hath heard the voice of my supplications.
7 The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.
8 The Lord is their strength, and he is the saving strength of his anointed.
9 Save thy people, and bless thine inheritance: feed them also, and lift them up for ever.
28 To You, Lord , I call;
My ( A ) rock, do not be deaf to me,
For if You ( B ) are silent to me,
I will become like those who ( C ) go down to the pit.
2 Hear the ( D ) sound of my pleadings when I cry to You for help,
When I ( E ) raise my hands ( F ) toward [ a ] Your holy ( G ) sanctuary.
3 ( H ) Do not drag me away with the wicked
And with those who practice injustice,
Who ( I ) speak peace with their neighbors,
While evil is in their hearts.
4 Give back to them ( J ) according to their work and according to the evil of their practices;
Give back to them according to the work of their hands;
Repay them what is due them.
5 Because they ( K ) do not regard the works of the Lord
Nor the deeds of His hands,
He will tear them down and not build them up.
6 Blessed be the Lord ,
Because He ( L ) has heard the sound of my pleading.
7 The Lord is my ( M ) strength and my ( N ) shield;
My heart ( O ) trusts in Him, and I am helped;
Therefore ( P ) my heart triumphs,
And with ( Q ) my song I shall thank Him.
8 The Lord is [ b ] their ( R ) strength,
And He is a refuge of ( S ) salvation to His anointed.
9 ( T ) Save Your people and bless ( U ) Your inheritance;
Be their ( V ) shepherd also, and ( W ) carry them forever.
1 To you, Lord , I call;
you are my Rock,
do not turn a deaf ear ( A ) to me.
For if you remain silent, ( B )
I will be like those who go down to the pit. ( C )
2 Hear my cry for mercy ( D )
as I call to you for help,
as I lift up my hands ( E )
toward your Most Holy Place. ( F )
3 Do not drag me away with the wicked,
with those who do evil,
who speak cordially with their neighbors
but harbor malice in their hearts. ( G )
4 Repay them for their deeds
and for their evil work;
repay them for what their hands have done ( H )
and bring back on them what they deserve. ( I )
5 Because they have no regard for the deeds of the Lord
and what his hands have done, ( J )
he will tear them down
and never build them up again.
