- Psalm Chapter 15
15 Lord , who may stay with you,
in your own home?
Who may live there,
on your holy hill? [ a ]
2 It is the person who does only things that are right.
It is the person who lives in a completely good way,
and who speaks only what he knows is true.
3 He says nothing bad against other people.
He does nothing that will hurt his friends,
nor does he insult them.
4 He does not respect wicked people,
but he does respect people who serve the Lord .
When he promises to do something,
he always does it.
5 He lends his money to help other people,
and he does not ask for more money in return.
He does not accept a bribe,
to speak against people who have done nothing wrong.
People who live in this way will always be safe.
15 Lord , who can live in your Holy Tent [ a ] ?
Who can live on your holy mountain?
2 Only those who live pure lives, do what is right,
and speak the truth from their hearts.
3 Such people don’t say bad things about others.
They don’t do things to hurt their neighbors.
They don’t tell shameful things about those close to them.
4 They hate those who fail to please God
and honor those who respect the Lord .
If they make a promise to their neighbor,
they do what they promised. [ b ]
5 If they loan money to someone,
they do not charge them interest.
And they refuse to testify against an innocent person,
even if someone offers them money to do it.
Whoever lives like this will always stand strong.
15 Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill?
2 He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart.
3 He that backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbour, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbour.
4 In whose eyes a vile person is contemned; but he honoureth them that fear the Lord . He that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not.
5 He that putteth not out his money to usury, nor taketh reward against the innocent. He that doeth these things shall never be moved.
15 Lord , who may reside ( A ) in Your tent?
Who may settle on Your ( B ) holy hill?
2 One who ( C ) walks with integrity, practices righteousness,
And ( D ) speaks truth in his heart.
3 He ( E ) does not slander [ a ] with his tongue,
Nor ( F ) do evil to his neighbor,
Nor ( G ) bring shame on his friend;
4 A despicable person is despised in his eyes,
But he ( H ) honors those who fear the Lord ;
He ( I ) takes an oath to his own detriment, and does not change;
5 He ( J ) does not [ b ] lend his money [ c ] at interest,
Nor ( K ) does he take a bribe against the innocent.
( L ) One who does these things will never be shaken.
2 The one whose walk is blameless, ( D )
who does what is righteous,
who speaks the truth ( E ) from their heart;
3 whose tongue utters no slander, ( F )
who does no wrong to a neighbor,
and casts no slur on others;
4 who despises a vile person
but honors ( G ) those who fear the Lord ;
who keeps an oath ( H ) even when it hurts,
and does not change their mind;
5 who lends money to the poor without interest; ( I )
who does not accept a bribe ( J ) against the innocent.
Whoever does these things
will never be shaken. ( K )
