BibleStudyIt Psalm 122
- Psalm Chapter 122
122 It made me very happy when people said to me,
‘We will go to the house of the Lord .’ [ a ]
2 Now we have arrived!
We are standing inside your gates, Jerusalem!
3 Jerusalem is a strong city where many people can meet together.
4 Israel's tribes who belong to the Lord go up there. [ b ]
They go there to thank the Lord ,
as he has commanded them.
5 Israel's leaders sit there to judge the people.
They sit on the thrones of King David's descendants.
6 Pray that there will be peace in Jerusalem.
Pray that people who love Jerusalem will be safe.
7 Yes, I pray that there will be peace inside the city's walls.
I pray people will be safe in their strong houses.
8 Because of my family and my friends I will pray,
‘Please let there be peace in Jerusalem.’
9 Because of the house of the Lord our God,
I will pray for good things to happen in Jerusalem.
122 I was happy when the people said,
“Let us go to the Lord ’s Temple.”
2 Here we are, standing at the gates of Jerusalem.
3 This is New Jerusalem!
The city has been rebuilt as one united city.
4 This is where the tribes come, the tribes who belong to the Lord .
The people of Israel come here to praise the Lord ’s name.
5 The kings from David’s family put their thrones here.
They set up their thrones to judge the people.
6 Pray for peace in Jerusalem:
“May those who love you find peace.
7 May there be peace within your walls.
May there be safety in your great buildings.”
8 For the good of my family and neighbors,
I pray that there will be peace here.
9 For the good of the Temple of the Lord our God,
I pray that good things will happen to this city.
122 I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord .
2 Our feet shall stand within thy gates, O Jerusalem.
3 Jerusalem is builded as a city that is compact together:
4 Whither the tribes go up, the tribes of the Lord , unto the testimony of Israel, to give thanks unto the name of the Lord .
5 For there are set thrones of judgment, the thrones of the house of David.
6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.
7 Peace be within thy walls, and prosperity within thy palaces.
8 For my brethren and companions' sakes, I will now say, Peace be within thee.
9 Because of the house of the Lord our God I will seek thy good.
122 I was glad when they said to me,
“Let’s ( A ) go to the house of the Lord .”
2 Our feet are standing
Within your ( B ) gates, Jerusalem,
3 Jerusalem, that has been ( C ) built
As a city that is ( D ) firmly joined together;
4 To which the tribes ( E ) go up, the tribes of [ a ] the Lord —
[ b ] An ordinance for Israel—
To give thanks to the name of the Lord .
5 For ( F ) thrones were set there for judgment,
The thrones of the house of David.
6 Pray for the ( G ) peace of Jerusalem:
“May they prosper who ( H ) love you.
7 May peace be within your ( I ) walls,
And prosperity within your ( J ) palaces.”
8 For the sake of my ( K ) brothers and my friends,
I will now say, “ ( L ) May peace be within you.”
9 For the sake of the house of the Lord our God,
I will ( M ) seek your good.
1 I rejoiced with those who said to me,
“Let us go to the house of the Lord .”
2 Our feet are standing
in your gates, Jerusalem.
3 Jerusalem is built like a city
that is closely compacted together.
4 That is where the tribes go up—
the tribes of the Lord —
to praise the name of the Lord
according to the statute given to Israel.
5 There stand the thrones for judgment,
the thrones of the house of David.
6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem:
“May those who love ( A ) you be secure.
7 May there be peace ( B ) within your walls
and security within your citadels. ( C ) ”
8 For the sake of my family and friends,
I will say, “Peace be within you.”
9 For the sake of the house of the Lord our God,
I will seek your prosperity. ( D )
