BibleStudyIt Psalm 115
- Psalm Chapter 115
115 Lord , you are the one
who deserves that people praise you.
They should praise only you, not us!
Because you love us with a faithful love,
and you always do what you have promised.
2 Why should other nations say about us,
‘Where is their God?’
3 We know that our God is in heaven.
He does whatever he wants to do.
4 Those people's idols are made from silver and gold.
Yes, human hands make them!
5 Each idol has a mouth,
but it cannot speak!
It has eyes, but it cannot see!
6 It has ears, but it cannot hear!
It has a nose, but it cannot smell!
7 It has hands, but it cannot feel anything!
It has feet, but it cannot walk!
They cannot make a sound!
8 The people that make those idols
will become useless like them.
The same is true for everyone
who trusts their idols to help them.
9 People of Israel,
trust in the Lord .
He is the one who helps you
and keeps you safe.
10 Aaron's family,
trust in the Lord . [ b ]
He is the one who helps you
and keeps you safe.
11 Everyone who serves the Lord ,
trust in the Lord .
He is the one who helps you
and keeps you safe.
12 The Lord will remember us,
and he will bless us.
He will bless Israel's people.
He will bless Aaron's family.
13 He will bless everybody who serves him,
whether they are important people or not.
14 I pray that the Lord will give you many children,
and your children too!
15 I pray that the Lord will bless you all.
He is the one who made the whole universe.
16 The heavens belong to the Lord ,
but he has given the earth to us people.
17 Dead people cannot praise the Lord .
In their graves, they are unable to speak.
18 But we will praise the Lord ,
now and for ever.
Hallelujah! Praise the Lord !
115 Lord , you should receive the honor, not us.
The honor belongs to you
because of your faithful love and loyalty.
2 Why should the nations wonder
where our God is?
3 Our God is in heaven,
and he does whatever he wants.
4 The “gods” of those nations are only statues
that some human made from gold and silver.
5 Those statues have mouths, but cannot talk.
They have eyes, but cannot see.
6 They have ears, but cannot hear.
They have noses, but cannot smell.
7 They have hands, but cannot feel.
They have feet, but cannot walk.
No sounds come from their throats.
8 The people who make and trust in those statues
will become like them!
9 People of Israel, trust in the Lord !
He is your strength and shield.
10 Aaron’s family, trust in the Lord !
He is your strength and shield.
11 Followers of the Lord , trust in the Lord !
He is your strength and shield.
12 The Lord remembers us.
He will bless us.
He will bless Israel.
He will bless Aaron’s family.
13 The Lord will bless his followers,
great and small.
14 May the Lord give more and more to you
and to your children.
15 May you receive blessings from the Lord , [ a ]
who made heaven and earth.
16 Heaven belongs to the Lord ,
but he gave the earth to people.
17 The dead don’t praise him.
Those in the grave don’t praise the Lord .
18 But we will praise the Lord
now and forever!
Praise the Lord !
115 Not unto us, O Lord , not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truth's sake.
2 Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is now their God?
3 But our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he hath pleased.
4 Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men's hands.
5 They have mouths, but they speak not: eyes have they, but they see not:
6 They have ears, but they hear not: noses have they, but they smell not:
7 They have hands, but they handle not: feet have they, but they walk not: neither speak they through their throat.
8 They that make them are like unto them; so is every one that trusteth in them.
9 O Israel, trust thou in the Lord : he is their help and their shield.
10 O house of Aaron, trust in the Lord : he is their help and their shield.
11 Ye that fear the Lord , trust in the Lord : he is their help and their shield.
12 The Lord hath been mindful of us: he will bless us; he will bless the house of Israel; he will bless the house of Aaron.
13 He will bless them that fear the Lord , both small and great.
14 The Lord shall increase you more and more, you and your children.
15 Ye are blessed of the Lord which made heaven and earth.
16 The heaven, even the heavens, are the Lord 's: but the earth hath he given to the children of men.
17 The dead praise not the Lord , neither any that go down into silence.
18 But we will bless the Lord from this time forth and for evermore. Praise the Lord .
