- Leviticus Chapter 23
23 The Lord said to Moses, 2 ‘Tell Israel's people about the special days when they must worship the Lord . They are holy days. The Israelites must come together and have a feast on these days.
3 There are six days when a person can work. The seventh day is the Sabbath day. A person must not do any work on that day. It is a day when people meet together for worship. You must not work in any place where you live. It is the Sabbath to the Lord , a day of rest.
4 There are other special days. They are holy feasts. On these days you must tell the people how to obey the Lord 's rules. 5 One special day is the 14th day of the first month. When the sun goes down, the Passover to the Lord begins. 6 The 15th day of the first month, the Feast of Flat Bread begins. It is a feast to the Lord . For seven days the people must eat bread that has no yeast in it. 7 On the first day the people must meet together and they must not work. 8 For seven days the people must give burnt offerings to the Lord . On the seventh day they must stop work and they must worship the Lord.’ [ a ]
9 The Lord said to Moses, 10 ‘Tell Israel's people this. They will go into the land that I will give to them. And then they will harvest the grain. They must take the first part of the harvest in their arms. They must give this to the priest. 11 The priest will lift it to the Lord . Then the Lord will accept their gift. The priest will do this on the day after the Sabbath day. 12 On the same day the priest will bring a young sheep that is perfect to the Lord . It must be one year old. It is a gift from the people. 13 He will also bring two tenths (2/10) of an ephah (about 4 litres) of the best flour mixed with oil. He will burn the gift as a sacrifice. The smell of it while it is burning will give the Lord pleasure. The people must also give a ¼ hin (about 1 litre) of wine as a gift to God. 14 The people must not eat any of the new grain until they have given their gift to God. They and their children must do this now and always. They must do it in any place that they live.
15 On the day after the Sabbath day the people will sacrifice their gifts to God. After this, they must count seven weeks. 16 They must count 50 days until the day after the seventh Sabbath. Then they must give another gift of new grain to the Lord . 17 Each family must bring two loaves of bread as a special gift to the Lord . They must make the bread with two tenths (2/10) of an ephah (about 4 litres) of good flour and yeast. This gift is from the first of their harvest fruits. 18 With the bread, all the people must bring seven perfect sheep. They must be males, each one year old. They must bring a bull. They must also bring two older male sheep. The priest will burn the grain and the animals as a gift to the Lord . The smell of them while they are burning will give the Lord pleasure. 19 The priest must sacrifice one male goat as a sin offering. The people must give two young sheep. They must be one year old. They are a gift to God. 20 The priest will lift the animals and the bread to the Lord . They are a holy offering to the Lord . They are for the priest. 21 On this day, the people must not do any work. They must not work anywhere that they live. It is a special day to God now and for all time to come. [ b ]
22 When the people harvest the grain, they must not cut it to the edge of the field. They must not pick up any grain that falls. Some grain must remain in the field. It is for the poor people and for foreign people. I am the Lord your God.’
23 The Lord said to Moses, 24 ‘Tell Israel's people this. On the first day of the seventh month, they must rest. It is a special day. They must worship together with the sound of trumpets. 25 They must not work. They must burn an offering to the Lord .’
26 The Lord said to Moses, 27 ‘The tenth day of the seventh month is the Day of Atonement. On that day, the people must come together. They must not eat any food. They must make an offering of food to the Lord . 28 They must not do any work. It is a holy day. On this special day, the leader of the priests must come near to the Lord . He will make atonement for the sins of the people. 29 You must punish any person who eats any food on that day. Send them away from my people. 30 I will kill any person who works on that day. 31 Nobody must work on that day. This rule is for now and for all time to come. You must obey it in any place where you are living. 32 It is a Sabbath rest for all the people. They must not eat any food. They must rest from the evening of the ninth day until the evening of the tenth day.’
33 The Lord said to Moses, 34 ‘Tell Israel's people that the Feast of Huts will start on the 15th day of the seventh month. The feast will continue for seven days, as people worship the Lord . 35 The first day is a special day. The people must not do any work. 36 For seven days each person must give a gift to the Lord . The eighth day is holy. The people must come together and they must give a burnt offering to the Lord . This is the last day of the feast. The people must not do any work on that day.
37 These are the rules for the special days of the Lord . You must tell people that they must bring offerings to the Lord on these days. They will bring gifts for burnt offerings each day. They must bring offerings of grain, animals and wine. 38 These are not the usual Sabbath gifts to the Lord . They are not gifts to give thanks or for promises to the Lord . But they are extra gifts for special days.
39 When the people have picked the grain, they can enjoy seven feast days to the Lord . The special days will begin on the 15th day of the seventh month. On the first day and on the eighth day they can rest. 40 On the first day, they must take fruit and leaves from the trees. Then for seven days they must praise the Lord . 41 They must do this to worship the Lord for seven days of each year. They must obey this rule in the seventh month now, and for all the years to come. 42 All Israel's people must live in huts for seven days. 43 Your descendants in the future will know that God brought Israel's people out of Egypt. They will know that he caused them to live in huts as they travelled through the wilderness. I am the Lord , your God.’
44 Moses told the people all that the Lord had told him.
23 The Lord said to Moses, 2 “Tell the Israelites: You will announce the Lord ’s chosen festivals as holy meetings. These are my special festivals.
3 “Work for six days, but the seventh day, the Sabbath, will be a special day of rest, a holy meeting. You must not do any work. It is a day of rest to honor the Lord in all your homes.
4 “These are the Lord ’s chosen festivals. You will announce the holy meetings at the times chosen for them. 5 The Lord ’s Passover is on the 14th day of the first month [ a ] just before dark.
6 “The Lord ’s Festival of Unleavened Bread is on the 15th day of the same month. You will eat unleavened bread for seven days. 7 On the first day of this festival, you will have a special meeting. You must not do any work on that day. 8 For seven days, you will bring sacrifices offered as gifts to the Lord . Then there will be another special meeting on the seventh day. You must not do any work on that day.”
9 The Lord said to Moses, 10 “Tell the Israelites: You will enter the land that I will give you and reap its harvest. At that time you must bring in the first sheaf [ b ] of your harvest to the priest. 11 The priest will lift the sheaf to show it was offered before the Lord . Then you will be accepted. The priest will present the sheaf on Sunday morning. [ c ]
12 “On the day when you present the sheaf, you will offer a one-year-old male lamb. There must be nothing wrong with that lamb. That lamb will be a burnt offering to the Lord . 13 You must also offer a grain offering of 16 cups [ d ] of fine flour mixed with olive oil. You must also offer 1 quart [ e ] of wine. The smell of that offering will please the Lord . 14 You must not eat any of the new grain, or fruit, or bread made from the new grain until you bring that offering to your God. This law will always continue through your generations, wherever you live.
15 “From that Sunday morning (the day you bring the sheaf to be presented to God), count seven weeks. 16 On the Sunday following the seventh week (that is, 50 days later), you will bring a new grain offering to the Lord . 17 On that day bring two loaves of bread from your homes. That bread will be lifted up to show it was offered to God. Use yeast and 16 cups of flour to make those loaves of bread. That will be your gift to the Lord from your first harvest.
18 “With these grain offerings bring one bull, one ram, and seven one-year-old male lambs for burnt offerings to the Lord . There must be nothing wrong with these animals. Offer them together with the grain offerings and the drink offerings. The smell of these offerings made by fire will be pleasing to the Lord . 19 You will also offer one male goat for a sin offering and two one-year-old male lambs as a fellowship offering.
20 “The priest will lift them up with the bread from the first harvest to show they were offered with the two lambs before the Lord . They are holy to the Lord . They will belong to the priest. 21 On that same day you will call a holy meeting. You must not do any work. This law continues forever in all your homes.
22 “Also, when you harvest the crops on your land, don’t cut all the way to the corners of your field. Don’t pick up the grain that falls on the ground. Leave it for poor people and for foreigners traveling through your country. I am the Lord your God.”
23 Again the Lord said to Moses, 24 “Tell the Israelites: On the first day of the seventh month, you must have a special day of rest. Blow the trumpet to remind the people that this is a holy meeting. 25 You must not do any work. You must bring an offering as a gift to the Lord .”
26 The Lord said to Moses, 27 “The Day of Atonement will be on the tenth day of the seventh month. There will be a holy meeting. You must not eat food, [ f ] and you must bring an offering as a gift to the Lord . 28 You must not do any work on that day, because it is the Day of Atonement. On that day the priests will go before the Lord and perform the ceremony that makes you pure.
29 “Anyone who refuses to fast on this day must be separated from their people. 30 If anyone does any work on this day, I will destroy that person from among the people. 31 You must not do any work at all. This is a law that continues forever for you, wherever you live. 32 It will be a special day of rest for you. You must not eat food. You will start this special day of rest on the evening following the ninth day of the month. [ g ] This special day of rest continues from that evening until the next evening.”
33 Again the Lord said to Moses, 34 “Tell the Israelites: On the 15th day of the seventh month is the Festival of Shelters. This festival to the Lord will continue for seven days. 35 There will be a holy meeting on the first day. You must not do any work. 36 You will bring offerings as gifts to the Lord for seven days. On the eighth day, you will have another holy meeting. You must not do any work. You will bring an offering as a gift to the Lord .
37 “These are the Lord ’s special festivals. There will be holy meetings during these festivals. You will bring offerings as gifts to the Lord —burnt offerings, grain offerings, sacrifices, and drink offerings. You will bring these gifts at the right time. 38 You will celebrate these festivals in addition to remembering the Lord ’s Sabbath days. You will offer these gifts in addition to your other gifts and any offerings you give as payment for your special promises. They will be in addition to any special offerings you want to give to the Lord .
39 “On the 15th day of the seventh month, when you have gathered in the crops of the land, you will celebrate the Lord ’s festival for seven days. The first day will be a special day of rest, and then the eighth day will also be a special day of rest. 40 On the first day you will take good fruit from fruit trees. And you will take branches from palm trees, poplar trees, and willow trees by the brook. You will celebrate before the Lord your God for seven days. 41 You will celebrate this festival to the Lord for seven days each year. This law will continue forever. You will celebrate this festival in the seventh month. 42 You will live in temporary shelters for seven days. All the people born in Israel will live in them. 43 Why? So all your descendants will know that I made the Israelites live in temporary shelters during the time I brought them out of Egypt. I am the Lord your God.”
44 So Moses told the Israelites about all the special meetings to honor the Lord .
23 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, Concerning the feasts of the Lord , which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are my feasts.
3 Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of the Lord in all your dwellings.
4 These are the feasts of the Lord , even holy convocations, which ye shall proclaim in their seasons.
5 In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the Lord 's passover.
6 And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread unto the Lord : seven days ye must eat unleavened bread.
7 In the first day ye shall have an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein.
8 But ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the Lord seven days: in the seventh day is an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein.
9 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
10 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye be come into the land which I give unto you, and shall reap the harvest thereof, then ye shall bring a sheaf of the firstfruits of your harvest unto the priest:
11 And he shall wave the sheaf before the Lord , to be accepted for you: on the morrow after the sabbath the priest shall wave it.
12 And ye shall offer that day when ye wave the sheaf an he lamb without blemish of the first year for a burnt offering unto the Lord .
13 And the meat offering thereof shall be two tenth deals of fine flour mingled with oil, an offering made by fire unto the Lord for a sweet savour: and the drink offering thereof shall be of wine, the fourth part of an hin.
14 And ye shall eat neither bread, nor parched corn, nor green ears, until the selfsame day that ye have brought an offering unto your God: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations in all your dwellings.
15 And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after the sabbath, from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven sabbaths shall be complete:
16 Even unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto the Lord .
17 Ye shall bring out of your habitations two wave loaves of two tenth deals; they shall be of fine flour; they shall be baken with leaven; they are the firstfruits unto the Lord .
18 And ye shall offer with the bread seven lambs without blemish of the first year, and one young bullock, and two rams: they shall be for a burnt offering unto the Lord , with their meat offering, and their drink offerings, even an offering made by fire, of sweet savour unto the Lord .
19 Then ye shall sacrifice one kid of the goats for a sin offering, and two lambs of the first year for a sacrifice of peace offerings.
20 And the priest shall wave them with the bread of the firstfruits for a wave offering before the Lord , with the two lambs: they shall be holy to the Lord for the priest.
21 And ye shall proclaim on the selfsame day, that it may be an holy convocation unto you: ye shall do no servile work therein: it shall be a statute for ever in all your dwellings throughout your generations.
22 And when ye reap the harvest of your land, thou shalt not make clean riddance of the corners of thy field when thou reapest, neither shalt thou gather any gleaning of thy harvest: thou shalt leave them unto the poor, and to the stranger: I am the Lord your God.
23 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
24 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation.
25 Ye shall do no servile work therein: but ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the Lord .
26 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
27 Also on the tenth day of this seventh month there shall be a day of atonement: it shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire unto the Lord .
28 And ye shall do no work in that same day: for it is a day of atonement, to make an atonement for you before the Lord your God.
29 For whatsoever soul it be that shall not be afflicted in that same day, he shall be cut off from among his people.
30 And whatsoever soul it be that doeth any work in that same day, the same soul will I destroy from among his people.
31 Ye shall do no manner of work: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations in all your dwellings.
32 It shall be unto you a sabbath of rest, and ye shall afflict your souls: in the ninth day of the month at even, from even unto even, shall ye celebrate your sabbath.
33 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
34 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the feast of tabernacles for seven days unto the Lord .
35 On the first day shall be an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein.
36 Seven days ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the Lord : on the eighth day shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the Lord : it is a solemn assembly; and ye shall do no servile work therein.
37 These are the feasts of the Lord , which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, to offer an offering made by fire unto the Lord , a burnt offering, and a meat offering, a sacrifice, and drink offerings, every thing upon his day:
38 Beside the sabbaths of the Lord , and beside your gifts, and beside all your vows, and beside all your freewill offerings, which ye give unto the Lord .
39 Also in the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when ye have gathered in the fruit of the land, ye shall keep a feast unto the Lord seven days: on the first day shall be a sabbath, and on the eighth day shall be a sabbath.
40 And ye shall take you on the first day the boughs of goodly trees, branches of palm trees, and the boughs of thick trees, and willows of the brook; and ye shall rejoice before the Lord your God seven days.
41 And ye shall keep it a feast unto the Lord seven days in the year. It shall be a statute for ever in your generations: ye shall celebrate it in the seventh month.
42 Ye shall dwell in booths seven days; all that are Israelites born shall dwell in booths:
43 That your generations may know that I made the children of Israel to dwell in booths, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.
44 And Moses declared unto the children of Israel the feasts of the Lord .
23 The Lord spoke again to Moses, saying, 2 “Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them, ‘ ( A ) The Lord ’ s appointed times which you shall ( B ) proclaim as holy convocations—My appointed times are these:
3 ‘ ( C ) For six days work may be done, but on the seventh day there is a Sabbath of complete rest, a holy convocation. You shall not do any work; it is a Sabbath to the Lord in all your dwellings.
4 ‘These are the ( D ) appointed times of the Lord , holy convocations which you shall proclaim at the times appointed for them. 5 ( E ) In the [ a ] first month, on the fourteenth day of the month [ b ] at twilight is the Lord ’ s Passover. 6 Then on the fifteenth day of the same month there is the ( F ) Feast of Unleavened Bread to the Lord ; for seven days you shall eat unleavened bread. 7 On the first day you shall have a holy convocation; you shall ( G ) not do any laborious work. 8 But for seven days you shall present an offering by fire to the Lord . On the seventh day is a holy convocation; you shall not do any laborious work.’”
9 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 10 “Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them, ‘When you enter the land which I am going to give to you and you ( H ) gather its harvest, then you shall bring in the sheaf of the first fruits of your harvest to the priest. 11 He shall wave the sheaf before the Lord for you to be accepted; on the day after the Sabbath the priest shall wave it. 12 Now on the day when you wave the sheaf, you shall offer a male lamb one year old without defect as a burnt offering to the Lord . 13 Its ( I ) grain offering shall then be [ c ] two-tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with oil, an offering by fire to the Lord for a soothing aroma, with its drink offering, a [ d ] fourth of a hin of wine. 14 Until this very day, until you have brought in the offering of your God, ( J ) you shall eat neither bread nor roasted grain nor new produce. It is to be a permanent statute throughout your generations in all your dwelling places.
15 ‘ ( K ) You shall also count for yourselves from the day after the Sabbath, from the day when you brought in the sheaf of the wave offering; there shall be seven complete Sabbaths. 16 You shall count fifty days to the day after the seventh Sabbath; then you shall present a ( L ) new grain offering to the Lord . 17 You shall bring in from your dwelling places two loaves of bread as a wave offering, made of [ e ] two-tenths of an ephah ; they shall be of a fine flour, baked ( M ) with leaven as first fruits to the Lord . 18 Along with the bread you shall present seven one-year-old male lambs without defect, and a bull of the herd and two rams; they are to be a burnt offering to the Lord , with their grain offering and their drink offerings, an offering by fire of a soothing aroma to the Lord . 19 You shall also offer ( N ) one male goat as a [ f ] sin offering, and two male lambs one year old as a sacrifice of peace offerings. 20 The priest shall then wave them with the bread of the first fruits as a wave offering with two lambs before the Lord ; they are to be holy to the Lord for the priest. 21 On this very day you shall ( O ) make a proclamation as well; you are to have a holy convocation. You shall do no laborious ( P ) work. It is to be a permanent statute in all your dwelling places throughout your generations.
22 ‘ ( Q ) When you reap the harvest of your land, moreover, you shall not reap to the very edges of your field nor gather the gleaning of your harvest; you are to leave them for the needy and the stranger. I am the Lord your God.’”
23 Again the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 24 “Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘ ( R ) In the [ g ] seventh month on the first of the month you shall have a [ h ] rest, a ( S ) reminder by blowing of trumpets , a holy convocation. 25 You shall ( T ) not do any laborious work, but you shall present an offering by fire to the Lord .’”
26 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 27 “On exactly ( U ) the tenth day of this seventh month is ( V ) the Day of Atonement; it shall be a holy convocation for you, and you shall humble [ i ] yourselves and present an offering by fire to the Lord . 28 You shall not do any work on this very day, for it is a ( W ) Day of Atonement, ( X ) to make atonement on your behalf before the Lord your God. 29 If there is any [ j ] person who does not humble himself on this very day, ( Y ) he shall be cut off from his people. 30 As for any person who does any work on this very day, that person I will eliminate from among his people. 31 You shall not do any work. It is to be a permanent statute throughout your generations in all your dwelling places. 32 It is to be a Sabbath of complete rest for you, and you shall humble [ k ] yourselves; on the ninth of the month at evening, from evening until evening, you shall keep your Sabbath.”
33 Again the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 34 “Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘On ( Z ) the fifteenth of this [ l ] seventh month is the ( AA ) Feast of Booths for seven days to the Lord . 35 On the first day is a holy convocation; you shall ( AB ) not do any laborious work. 36 ( AC ) For seven days you shall present an offering by fire to the Lord . On ( AD ) the eighth day you shall have a holy convocation and present an offering by fire to the Lord ; it is an assembly. You shall not do any laborious work.
37 ‘These are ( AE ) the appointed times of the Lord which you shall proclaim as holy convocations, to present offerings by fire to the Lord —burnt offerings and grain offerings, sacrifices and drink offerings, ( AF ) each day’s matter on its own day— 38 besides those of the Sabbaths of the Lord , and besides your gifts and besides all your [ m ] vowed and [ n ] voluntary offerings, which you give to the Lord .
39 ‘On exactly the fifteenth day of the seventh month, ( AG ) when you have gathered in the crops of the land, you shall celebrate the feast of the Lord for seven days, with a [ o ] rest on the first day and a [ p ] rest on the eighth day. 40 Now on the first day you shall take for yourselves the [ q ] foliage of beautiful trees, palm branches and branches of trees with thick branches and willows of the brook, and you shall rejoice before the Lord your God for seven days. 41 So you shall celebrate it as a feast to the Lord for seven days in the year. It shall be a permanent statute throughout your generations; you shall celebrate it in the seventh month. 42 You shall live ( AH ) in booths for seven days; all the native-born in Israel shall live in booths, 43 so that ( AI ) your generations may know that I had the sons of Israel live in booths when I brought them out from the land of Egypt. I am the Lord your God.’” 44 So Moses declared to the sons of Israel ( AJ ) the appointed times of the Lord .
23 The Lord said to Moses, 2 “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘These are my appointed festivals, ( A ) the appointed festivals of the Lord , which you are to proclaim as sacred assemblies. ( B )
3 “‘There are six days when you may work, ( C ) but the seventh day is a day of sabbath rest, ( D ) a day of sacred assembly. You are not to do any work; ( E ) wherever you live, it is a sabbath to the Lord .
4 “‘These are the Lord ’s appointed festivals, the sacred assemblies you are to proclaim at their appointed times: ( G ) 5 The Lord ’s Passover ( H ) begins at twilight on the fourteenth day of the first month. ( I ) 6 On the fifteenth day of that month the Lord ’s Festival of Unleavened Bread ( J ) begins; for seven days ( K ) you must eat bread made without yeast. 7 On the first day hold a sacred assembly ( L ) and do no regular work. 8 For seven days present a food offering to the Lord . ( M ) And on the seventh day hold a sacred assembly and do no regular work.’”
9 The Lord said to Moses, 10 “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘When you enter the land I am going to give you ( N ) and you reap its harvest, ( O ) bring to the priest a sheaf ( P ) of the first grain you harvest. ( Q ) 11 He is to wave the sheaf before the Lord ( R ) so it will be accepted ( S ) on your behalf; the priest is to wave it on the day after the Sabbath. 12 On the day you wave the sheaf, you must sacrifice as a burnt offering to the Lord a lamb a year old ( T ) without defect, ( U ) 13 together with its grain offering ( V ) of two-tenths of an ephah [ a ] ( W ) of the finest flour mixed with olive oil—a food offering presented to the Lord , a pleasing aroma—and its drink offering ( X ) of a quarter of a hin [ b ] of wine. ( Y ) 14 You must not eat any bread, or roasted or new grain, ( Z ) until the very day you bring this offering to your God. ( AA ) This is to be a lasting ordinance for the generations to come, ( AB ) wherever you live. ( AC )
15 “‘From the day after the Sabbath, the day you brought the sheaf of the wave offering, count off seven full weeks. 16 Count off fifty days up to the day after the seventh Sabbath, ( AE ) and then present an offering of new grain to the Lord . 17 From wherever you live, bring two loaves made of two-tenths of an ephah ( AF ) of the finest flour, baked with yeast, as a wave offering of firstfruits ( AG ) to the Lord . 18 Present with this bread seven male lambs, each a year old and without defect, one young bull and two rams. They will be a burnt offering to the Lord , together with their grain offerings and drink offerings ( AH ) —a food offering, an aroma pleasing to the Lord . 19 Then sacrifice one male goat for a sin offering [ c ] and two lambs, each a year old, for a fellowship offering. 20 The priest is to wave the two lambs before the Lord as a wave offering, ( AI ) together with the bread of the firstfruits. They are a sacred offering to the Lord for the priest. 21 On that same day you are to proclaim a sacred assembly ( AJ ) and do no regular work. ( AK ) This is to be a lasting ordinance for the generations to come, wherever you live.
22 “‘When you reap the harvest ( AL ) of your land, do not reap to the very edges of your field or gather the gleanings of your harvest. ( AM ) Leave them for the poor and for the foreigner residing among you. ( AN ) I am the Lord your God.’”
23 The Lord said to Moses, 24 “Say to the Israelites: ‘On the first day of the seventh month you are to have a day of sabbath rest, a sacred assembly ( AP ) commemorated with trumpet blasts. ( AQ ) 25 Do no regular work, ( AR ) but present a food offering to the Lord . ( AS ) ’”
26 The Lord said to Moses, 27 “The tenth day of this seventh month ( AU ) is the Day of Atonement. ( AV ) Hold a sacred assembly ( AW ) and deny yourselves, [ d ] and present a food offering to the Lord . 28 Do not do any work ( AX ) on that day, because it is the Day of Atonement, when atonement is made for you before the Lord your God. 29 Those who do not deny themselves on that day must be cut off from their people. ( AY ) 30 I will destroy from among their people ( AZ ) anyone who does any work on that day. 31 You shall do no work at all. This is to be a lasting ordinance ( BA ) for the generations to come, wherever you live. 32 It is a day of sabbath rest ( BB ) for you, and you must deny yourselves. From the evening of the ninth day of the month until the following evening you are to observe your sabbath.” ( BC )
33 The Lord said to Moses, 34 “Say to the Israelites: ‘On the fifteenth day of the seventh ( BE ) month the Lord ’s Festival of Tabernacles ( BF ) begins, and it lasts for seven days. 35 The first day is a sacred assembly; ( BG ) do no regular work. ( BH ) 36 For seven days present food offerings to the Lord , and on the eighth day hold a sacred assembly ( BI ) and present a food offering to the Lord .
