- Genesis Chapter 7
7 Then the Lord said to Noah, ‘Go into the ship. Take your wife and family with you. I can see that you alone do what is right, among all the people on the earth.
2 Take seven of every different kind of clean animal. Take a male and a female together. Take two of every different kind of unclean animal. Take a male and a female together. 3 Take seven of every kind of bird. Take males and females. Do this so that they will give birth to young ones. Then each different kind of animal and bird will continue to live on the earth. [ a ]
4 In seven days, I will cause rain to fall on the earth. It will rain for 40 days and 40 nights. In that way, I will destroy every living thing that I have made on the earth.’
5 Noah did everything that God told him to do.
6 Noah was 600 years old when the deep water covered the earth. 7 Noah and his wife went into the ship. His sons and their wives also went in. They all went into the ship to be safe from the deep water. 8 Pairs of clean animals and unclean animals came to Noah in the ship. [ b ] Also, pairs of birds and pairs of all the living things that move across the ground came to him. 9 Each pair was one male and one female. They all came to Noah in the ship. Everything happened as God had said to Noah. 10 After seven days had passed, God sent the deep water to cover the earth.
11 When Noah was 600 years old, on the 17th day of the second month, streams of water came up everywhere from below the earth. Also, the water in the heavens poured down on the earth. 12 Rain fell on the earth for 40 days and 40 nights.
13 On the day that the rain began to fall, Noah and his wife went into the ship. Noah's three sons (Shem, Ham and Japheth) and their three wives also went in. 14 With them was every different kind of wild animal and every different kind of farm animal. They also had with them every kind of living thing that moves along the ground. Every different kind of bird and other flying things were there too. 15 Pairs of every kind of animal that lived came to Noah and went into the ship. [ c ] 16 Each pair was one male and one female. This happened in the way that God had told Noah. When they were all in the ship, the Lord shut the door.
17 For 40 days, the water on the earth became deeper. The water lifted the ship high above the ground.
18 The water became even deeper and completely covered the earth. The ship went safely on top of the water. 19 More water came until it covered all the high mountains on the earth. 20 The water still became deeper so that it was more than 6 metres higher than the tops of the mountains.
21 As a result, everything that had lived on the earth now died. The birds, the farm animals and the wild animals died. Every living thing that moved across the ground died, and so did all the people. 22 Everything that lived on the dry land died. Nothing could breathe any more. 23 God destroyed everything that lived on the earth. He destroyed people, animals, living things that move across the ground, and birds. God removed them from the earth. Only Noah and his family, together with the animals that were in the ship, stayed alive.
24 The deep water covered the earth for 150 days.
7 Then the Lord said to Noah, “I have seen that you are a good man, even among the evil people of this time. So gather your family, and all of you go into the boat. 2 Get seven pairs (seven males and seven females) of every kind of clean animal. And get one pair (one male and one female) of every other animal on the earth. Lead all these animals into the boat with you. 3 Get seven pairs (seven males and seven females) of all the birds. This will allow all these animals to continue living on the earth after the other animals are destroyed. 4 Seven days from now, I will send much rain on the earth. It will rain for 40 days and 40 nights, and I will wipe everything off the face of the earth. I will destroy everything I made.” 5 Noah did everything the Lord told him to do.
6 Noah was 600 years old at the time the rains came. 7 He and his family went into the boat to be saved from the flood. His wife and his sons and their wives were on the boat with him. 8 All the clean animals, all the other animals on the earth, the birds, and everything that crawls on the earth 9 went into the boat with Noah. These animals went into the boat in groups of two, male and female, just as God commanded. 10 Seven days later the flood started. The rain began to fall on the earth.
11-13 On the 17th day of the second month, when Noah was 600 years old, the springs under the earth broke through the ground, and water flowed out everywhere. The sky also opened like windows and rain poured down. The rain fell on the earth for 40 days and 40 nights. That same day Noah went into the boat with his wife, his sons Shem, Ham, and Japheth, and their wives. 14 They and every kind of animal on the earth were in the boat. Every kind of cattle, every kind of animal that crawls on the earth, and every kind of bird were in the boat. 15 All these animals went into the boat with Noah. They came in groups of two from every kind of animal that had the breath of life. 16 All these animals went into the boat in groups of two, just as God had commanded Noah. Then the Lord closed the door behind Noah.
17 Water flooded the earth for 40 days. The water began rising and lifted the boat off the ground. 18 The water continued to rise, and the boat floated on the water high above the earth. 19 The water rose so much that even the highest mountains were covered by the water. 20 The water continued to rise above the mountains. The water was more than 20 feet [ a ] above the highest mountain.
21-22 Every living thing on earth died—every man and woman, every bird, and every kind of animal. All the many kinds of animals and all the things that crawl on the ground died. Every living, breathing thing on dry land died. 23 In this way God wiped the earth clean—he destroyed every living thing on the earth—every human, every animal, everything that crawls, and every bird. All that was left was Noah and his family and the animals that were with him in the boat. 24 The water continued to cover the earth for 150 days.
7 And the Lord said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation.
2 Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by sevens, the male and his female: and of beasts that are not clean by two, the male and his female.
3 Of fowls also of the air by sevens, the male and the female; to keep seed alive upon the face of all the earth.
4 For yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living substance that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the earth.
5 And Noah did according unto all that the Lord commanded him.
6 And Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters was upon the earth.
7 And Noah went in, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons' wives with him, into the ark, because of the waters of the flood.
8 Of clean beasts, and of beasts that are not clean, and of fowls, and of every thing that creepeth upon the earth,
9 There went in two and two unto Noah into the ark, the male and the female, as God had commanded Noah.
10 And it came to pass after seven days, that the waters of the flood were upon the earth.
11 In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.
12 And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights.
13 In the selfsame day entered Noah, and Shem, and Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah's wife, and the three wives of his sons with them, into the ark;
14 They, and every beast after his kind, and all the cattle after their kind, and every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind, and every fowl after his kind, every bird of every sort.
15 And they went in unto Noah into the ark, two and two of all flesh, wherein is the breath of life.
16 And they that went in, went in male and female of all flesh, as God had commanded him: and the Lord shut him in.
17 And the flood was forty days upon the earth; and the waters increased, and bare up the ark, and it was lift up above the earth.
18 And the waters prevailed, and were increased greatly upon the earth; and the ark went upon the face of the waters.
19 And the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth; and all the high hills, that were under the whole heaven, were covered.
20 Fifteen cubits upward did the waters prevail; and the mountains were covered.
21 And all flesh died that moved upon the earth, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of beast, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth, and every man:
22 All in whose nostrils was the breath of life, of all that was in the dry land, died.
23 And every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and the creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the earth: and Noah only remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark.
24 And the waters prevailed upon the earth an hundred and fifty days.
7 Then the Lord said to Noah, “Enter the ark, you and all your household, for you alone I have seen to be ( A ) righteous before Me in this generation. 2 You shall take [ a ] with you [ b ] seven pairs of every ( B ) clean animal, a male and his female; and two of the animals that are not clean, a male and his female; 3 also of the birds of the sky, [ c ] seven pairs, male and female, to keep their [ d ] offspring alive on the face of all the earth. 4 For after ( C ) seven more days, I will send rain on the earth for ( D ) forty days and forty nights; and I will wipe out from the face of the land ( E ) every living thing that I have made.” 5 So ( F ) Noah acted in accordance with everything that the Lord had commanded him.
6 Now Noah was ( G ) six hundred years old when the flood of water [ e ] came upon the earth. 7 Then ( H ) Noah and his sons, his wife, and his sons’ wives with him entered the ark because of the waters of the flood. 8 ( I ) Of clean animals and animals that are not clean and birds and everything that crawls on the ground, 9 they all went into the ark to Noah [ f ] by twos, male and female, as God had commanded Noah. 10 Now it came about after ( J ) the seven days, that the waters of the flood [ g ] came upon the earth. 11 In the ( K ) six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on that day all ( L ) the fountains of the great deep burst open, and the [ h ] floodgates of the sky were opened. 12 ( M ) The rain [ i ] fell upon the earth for forty days and forty nights.
13 On this very same day ( N ) Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah’s wife and the three wives of his sons with them, entered the ark, 14 they and every animal according to its kind, and all the livestock according to [ j ] their kind, and every crawling thing that crawls on the earth according to its kind, and every bird according to its kind, [ k ] all sorts of birds. 15 So they went into the ark to Noah, ( O ) by twos of all flesh in which there was the breath of life. 16 Those that entered, male and female of all flesh, entered as God had commanded him; and the Lord closed the door behind him.
17 Then the flood [ l ] came upon the earth for ( P ) forty days, and the water increased and lifted up the ark, so that it rose above the earth. 18 The water prevailed and increased greatly upon the earth, and the ark [ m ] floated on the [ n ] surface of the water. 19 And the water prevailed more and more upon the earth, so that all the high mountains [ o ] everywhere under the heavens were covered. 20 The water prevailed [ p ] fifteen cubits higher, ( Q ) and the mountains were covered. 21 So ( R ) all [ q ] creatures that moved on the earth perished: birds, livestock, animals, and every swarming thing that swarms upon the earth, and all mankind; 22 of all that was on the dry land, all ( S ) in whose nostrils was the breath of the spirit of life, died. 23 So He wiped out [ r ] every living thing that was upon the face of the land, from mankind to animals, to crawling things, and the birds of the sky, and they were wiped out from the earth; and only ( T ) Noah was left, together with those that were with him in the ark. 24 ( U ) The water prevailed upon the earth for 150 days.
7 The Lord then said to Noah, “Go into the ark, you and your whole family, ( A ) because I have found you righteous ( B ) in this generation. 2 Take with you seven pairs of every kind of clean ( C ) animal, a male and its mate, and one pair of every kind of unclean animal, a male and its mate, 3 and also seven pairs of every kind of bird, male and female, to keep their various kinds alive ( D ) throughout the earth. 4 Seven days from now I will send rain ( E ) on the earth ( F ) for forty days ( G ) and forty nights, ( H ) and I will wipe from the face of the earth every living creature I have made. ( I ) ”
5 And Noah did all that the Lord commanded him. ( J )
6 Noah was six hundred years old ( K ) when the floodwaters came on the earth. 7 And Noah and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives entered the ark ( L ) to escape the waters of the flood. 8 Pairs of clean and unclean ( M ) animals, of birds and of all creatures that move along the ground, 9 male and female, came to Noah and entered the ark, as God had commanded Noah. ( N ) 10 And after the seven days ( O ) the floodwaters came on the earth.
11 In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, ( P ) on the seventeenth day of the second month ( Q ) —on that day all the springs of the great deep ( R ) burst forth, and the floodgates of the heavens ( S ) were opened. 12 And rain fell on the earth forty days and forty nights. ( T )
13 On that very day Noah and his sons, ( U ) Shem, Ham and Japheth, together with his wife and the wives of his three sons, entered the ark. ( V ) 14 They had with them every wild animal according to its kind, all livestock according to their kinds, every creature that moves along the ground according to its kind and every bird according to its kind, ( W ) everything with wings. 15 Pairs of all creatures that have the breath of life in them came to Noah and entered the ark. ( X ) 16 The animals going in were male and female of every living thing, as God had commanded Noah. ( Y ) Then the Lord shut him in.
17 For forty days ( Z ) the flood kept coming on the earth, and as the waters increased they lifted the ark high above the earth. 18 The waters rose and increased greatly on the earth, and the ark floated on the surface of the water. 19 They rose greatly on the earth, and all the high mountains under the entire heavens were covered. ( AA ) 20 The waters rose and covered the mountains to a depth of more than fifteen cubits. [ a ] [ b ] ( AB ) 21 Every living thing that moved on land perished—birds, livestock, wild animals, all the creatures that swarm over the earth, and all mankind. ( AC ) 22 Everything on dry land that had the breath of life ( AD ) in its nostrils died. 23 Every living thing on the face of the earth was wiped out; people and animals and the creatures that move along the ground and the birds were wiped from the earth. ( AE ) Only Noah was left, and those with him in the ark. ( AF )
24 The waters flooded the earth for a hundred and fifty days. ( AG )
